Kiehl's Açaí Damage-Protecting Toning Mist

Hey everyone!

I have a small update on my facial skin care products and as you can tell from the title, today I'll be reviewing my new toner. I was previously using Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner and was pretty happy with it, it did the job. However anyone that knows me also knows that I am pretty big on paraben (and many other chemicals) free and organic products but of course I wasn't about to just toss a full bottle of toner so I used it up! I even use a paraben and bad chemical-free dish-washing soap and hand soap. I wish I could do the same with make-up and while I do have many chemical-free make-up products that I love, I just can't see myself giving up MAC and other brands that I absolutely adore. Ok I'm going off topic here...So I recently finished my bottle of Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner and decided that I won't be repurchasing it mostly because it does contain parabens and I also wanted to try something new. I have never used Kiehl's products before but heard great things about this company and it's products so I decided to give it a try.

Here's the break down of Açaí Damage-Protecting Toning Mist:

What is it? An antioxidant toner that helps to balance and refine skin's texture and tone, provides a layer of antioxidant protection, aids in tightening pores, can also be used as a anytime refresher (yay! I can see myself carrying this with me all summer long for a quick spritz, especially in super hot and humid Chicago summer, it'll be my best friend!) It's 100% natural origin and 77.1% of ingredients come from organic farming.

What does it contain? Açaí berry, fruit waters, flowers, leaves and stems of plants, leaf oils, lavender oil and more...very floral indeed!

How does it feel on skin? I spritz it on a cotton round and then apply it to my face, right after using my face-wash when my pores are open, and it feels so refreshing, it almost feels like my skin can breathe again after I use this. It's definitely more moisturizing than Dermalogica toner, I think it's the oils that cause it to be moisturizing, which Dermalogica toner doesn't contain too much of.

What about the smell? Lavender definitely owns this toner. If you can't stand the smell of lavender then this toner may not be for you. I like lavender as long as it's not super pungent, and in the case of this toner, it's not.

Will it break the bank? It is $26 for a 6.0 fl. oz. which I consider to be reasonable for a product that doesn't contain most of the harmful chemicals many others do. I was paying $31 for 8.4 fl. oz. of Dermalogica toner.

What do I love about it? The packaging, it's a plastic burgundy bottle wrapped with the information label which looks pharmacy-like, sort of. I love the fact that it is in a spray form! And of course, that it feels great on my skin and that it's formulated without all the chemicals. That it's made to improve the size of pores, hopefully it'll work with my pores because they are getting huuuuge!

What could improve? In stead of plastic, it could be a glass bottle. But then it would be probably more expensive...can't have everything we want, can we?!

What do you girls think about Kiehl's, have you ever used or do you currently use their products?

MAC Peachstock Lipstick

Hi ladies!

Okay, I'm in love, I think I have found the one...nude/peach lipstick that is! I have been looking for the perfect nude lipstick forever. I do love Myth which even though depending on the look can make me look lifeless. I also can't really wear it by itself because the formula is pretty drying and makes my lips look super chapped, which isn't a pretty sight. However it looks great as a base and under another lipstick or topped off with a lipgloss. But Peachstock (neautral peach) seems to be easier to wear alone and doesn't make lips look as chapped. It looks perfect by itself or with lipgloss over it, and I found the perfect lipglass to wear over it which is...Boy Bait (Cremesheen glass that is light neutral beige with pearl)! They're divine together. Unfortunately I don't have Boy Bait just yet so in my pictures I have it paired with Culture Clash lipglass. I have tried Boy Bait together with Peachstock at my MAC store and the result was gorgeous! What surprises me is the fact that both Peachstock and Myth are Satin finish, but Peachstock is less drying than Myth. If you love nude lippies and don't already own Peachstock or a dupe of it, then you must go to a MAC Pro store and get it, you will love it!

Next I'm planning to try Shy Girl and Freckletone, I have been wanting these forever, they're too pretty to pass up!

What is your favorite nude lipstick? (I have a feeling most will say Myth :))

What makes me blush...

Hey dolls!

I have recently done one of those popular "3 things about me" posts and I remember one of the questions which asked, what are 3 beauty products you won't leave the house without? My answer unfortunately didn't include blush but I do love my blushes! I actually wear them everyday for a little hint of color. Below you will see my favorite ones that I use quite often, my favorite blush of all time is Peachykeen by MAC, I just can't get enough of it! :)

is a coral/pink colored blush, which I think would look great with any complexion. It has a slight sheen to it but it's nothing over the top, it's definitely an everyday type of blush. Gives off a perfect glow, can be worn by itself or over foundation/powder. Comes with it's own little brush too! Added bonus: It smells divine!
Price: $28.00

is my favorite blush for years now. As you can see I have many other blushes but for some reason there is something about this peach color that makes me keep going back to it! Shows up perfectly when worn over bronzer, looks great on tanned skin. I love to wear this during summer, especially! It has a bit of gold shimmer to it.
Price: $18.50

is a blush I picked up randomly at a drugstore which then I grew to love. It's a fairly light baby peach color and is matte. Pairs beautifully with smokey eyes and nude lips. Has a little pop up mirror and it's own brush which is perfect when you want to take it along (that way you don't need to carry a mirror + a brush! :))
Price: $8-9

is the newest blush in my collection but I love it regardless! It's a shimmery peach colored pressed blush and very versatile, you can use it as part of a natural or dramatic look. Doesn't have as much shimmer as Orgasm which was a bit too much for me. Perfect for a fresh and flushed look! In my case doesn't show up too well over bronzer, so I do multiple sweeps.
Price: $26

is a very pigmented barbie/candy pink colored blush. Definitely the most pigmented blush I own. You really need to dip your brush a little in this blush and you will have the perfect color on your cheeks. I go easy on everything else when I use it because it can be too much otherwise, unless you're going for that kind of look.
Price: $18.50

is a mosaic blush with all sorts of colors that I purchased a long time ago, they don't even make them anymore. But that doesn't mean I won't show it love! Comes off more peachy than pink, has medium shimmer and shows up perfect over bronzer.
Price: $14.50 (maybe? Currently they have blush trios at VS if you're interested)

was purchased years ago and is lasting me forever! It's a very very pigmented cotton candy/baby pink blush and also doubles up as an eye-shadow and looks great both ways! I love to sweep this on my cheeks, looks gorgeous with smokey eyes or any dark eye make-up and pink lips. I need a (permanent) dupe for this immediately!

Price: I have no idea and not that it matters since it was part of a collection back then.

is a natural (as in without many chemicals including parabens) cheek stain that provides that just-pinched color on cheeks. Color is a sheer baby pink with just a bit of shimmer. It's the only cheek stain I own so it has a special place in my heart. I love that it looks so natural when applied. However applying can be a bit tricky since you literally only have 30 seconds to smear it the way you want, after that it will "stain" your cheek and stay that way. Unfortunately this is another discontinued product I own but I'm sure I will find a good replacement for it when the time comes.
Price: Was $28-30.

is a rosey pink creme blush which goes on pretty sheer. Bright on pan but looks pretty natural on cheeks (of course you can adjust depending on the look) after applying. Better applied with a stippling brush than fingers. In fact it's pretty difficult to apply with fingers because it just stays in one spot. Does last all day, perfect for a dewy pink glow!
Price: $18.50

Do you have any blush suggestions for me that I'm totally missing out on? What is your go-to blush?

Battle of the Mascaras

Hey girls!!!

I have gone through countless numbers of mascaras ever since I've started doing make-up. I had some good ones and I had some bad ones. Few weeks ago when I was cleaning out my make-up storage cases, I came across some used up mascara containers and wondered why I didn't toss them? (And it's so not me to keep stuff, I am not a hoarder AT ALL, I throw away everything lol)  I guess this post was just meant to be!

I have been thinking of doing a mascara-comparison post for a while now, so now that I have time I am putting my plan into action, here we go! FYI: There are bunch of other ones I used however it's just really hard for me to keep track of them because they were a long time ago, so I am keeping it limited to the ones I have the empty containers of and Too Faced Lash Injection which I remember so well because of it's (gross) smell.

Covergirl Lashblast

Thoughts: Thicker, fuller and longer lashes in no time! Has been my HG mascara pretty much since it came out. I first saw it on youtube, not sure who was wearing/reviewing it and decided to give it a go. I've been loving it since then! I've been naturally blessed in the lash department and I frequently get asked if I am wearing false lashes. This mascara plays a big role in it though! ;)

Brush: Is more like a wand with really tiny short bristles
Pros: Lengthening, thickening, volumizing, defining, perfect consistency, no clumping, smudging or flaking, lasts for hours (Wore it to many special occasions, NYE, birthdays...lashes looked exactly like when I left the house!) comes off easily
Cons: None!
Price: $ 8.39

Lancome Hypnose

Thoughts: I'm sad to say that I stopped using Hypnose when I started using Lashblast. Don't get me wrong Hypnose I still love you but you're a bit expensive to use continuously (with the money I pay for a Hypnose, I could get 3 Lashblasts lol)

Brush: Thin brush with short-to-medium length bristles
Pros: Lengthening and separating
Cons: Formula is too thin, requires way too many coats, isn't volumizing ~ don't expect fuller lashes with this one!
Price: $24.50

L'oreal Voluminous

Thoughts: I think this mascara is great if you want dramatic lashes with lots of definition!

Brush: Thick curved, plush brush with medium length bristles
Pros: Lengthens, volumizes, defines, thicker consistency, stays put until you take it off, curved brush, doesn't flake
Cons: Can be a bit clumpy
Price: $6.99

L'oreal Extra Volume Collagen

Thoughts: Reminds me a lot of L'oreal Voluminous minus the curved brush and a little thinner formula.

Brush: Thick brush with medium length bristles
Pros: Lengthens, volumizes, separates and adds definition.
Cons: Smudges after a long wear
Price: $ 7.99

Maybelline the Colossal

Thoughts: I love bright colors, so when I saw bunch of black mascaras lined up and then bam a yellow one, I had to get it! Maybelline definitely attracted a lot of potential customers with the bright yellow packaging, at least they were good with marketing. I have used Maybelline products before and liked a few of them, so I thought I'd give this a try, unfortunately I don't have too many good things to say about it...

Brush: Pretty thick with long bristles
Pros: Attractive bright yellow packaging, thick formula, does separate ok, adds decent length
Cons: Weird smell, smudging, flaking, sticky, dries out fast, doesn't last long on lashes at all
Price: $6.99

Maybelline Lash Stilletto

Thoughts: Another let down by Maybelline. Lash Stilletto just like Colossal and didn't do much for me.

Brush: Long, thin with medium-length bristles
Pros: Non-smudging, thick formula
Cons: Not lengthening, volumizing OR defining, doesn't last long on lashes
Price:$ 8.99

Too Faced Lash Injection

Thoughts: I know there are a good number of people out there who adore this mascara but I am sorry I just can't agree with you. I used this mascara a long time ago, back when not too many people blogged, that's why you can't see the mascara in the pictures. Anyway I tossed it pretty fast because I didn't like it at all :/

Brush: Big brush with long bristles
Pros: Does make dark lashes even darker
Cons: Clumpy, smudging, flakes, too wet and takes too long to dry, smells bad, not too lengthening and on top of all this expensive for not doing much!
Price: $19.50

Who wins the battle? Covergirl Lashblast, hands down! I will continue loving this mascara until something better than this comes around...

Of course I will continue to experiment with other mascaras, I won't know if there is a better mascara than Lashblast unless I keep experimenting! What do I like to try next? Diorshow, Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash, YSL Faux Cils, I want to see if I will have any luck with any of these as well as to see if they really live up to all the hype.

What is YOUR favorite mascara?

FOTD: Pinks & Oranges

I have been neglecting my lovely Pink Venus eye shadow, I seriously haven't worn it for almost a year, last time I wore it was on my anniversary which is in May! Last time I was at a MAC store trying to pick up some colors, the MUA swatched a pink eyeshadow right next to Coppering and it was just divine, so I thank her for giving me this idea, I never thought of wearing Coppering with pinks, loves it!

Here's what I used:

Face: Revlon Photo Ready Foundation (that was a given!), MSFN, Too Faced Pink Leopard Bronzing Powder, Benefit Coralista blush

Eyes: UDPP, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk dabbed in inner corners, MAC Pink Venus e/s on inner half of lid, MAC Coppering e/s on outer half of lid, MAC Antiqued e/s on crease, Anastasia Brow Duality highlighter, Jordana Easyliner Retractable Pencil in Lavish Brown on upper lid and waterline, L'oreal Voluminous Mascara

FOTD: Birds & Berries + Blooming Lovely

Hey girls!

Wow I feel like I've been away from the blog world forever! I have been sick and not feeling like myself lately. Past few days included everything from chocolate to antibiotics but no make-up, it feels good to be back! So here's my fotd now that I feel good enough to put make-up on again. For this look, I (finally!) utilized my recently bought goodies from MAC ~ from the Give Me Liberty of London collection. Birds & Berries is a beautiful color which you can definitely build up. However, for this look I wanted something not too over the top, that's why you don't see the color as vibrant as it actually is. You can see the actual color on my lower lash line, purddyyy!

Here is what I used:

Face: Revlon Photo Ready Foundation, MSFN, MAC Peachykeen Blush
Eyes: UDPP, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Yogurt all over lid, MAC Era e/s on outer half, MAC Birds & Berries on crease and lower lash line, Anastasia Brow Duality highlighter, Sephora Flash Liner in Flashy Blue on waterline, Wet & Wild Mega Liner in black, CG Lashblast mascara
Lips: MAC Myth l/s, MAC Blooming Lovely l/s

I personally think Blooming Lovely, while a gorgeous color, can be a little too much. So I dabbed it on my lips lightly. I think lavender is just not my color (at least not in lipsticks) but regardless I love it, it's so pretty to look at!

What has everyone else bought from this collection? Or is it just not you? I heard some people say mean things about it lol

My NYX order is FINALLY here!

Hey girlies!

As some of you may remember, I ordered bunch of things from NYX back when they had that $1 sale and yes they did say it may take a month for orders to be received but this felt like an eternal wait! I placed my order on January 24 and just got the package few days ago. Oh well I only paid a buck for most of these (minus the jumbo pencil) so I can't cry or complain about it too much, so let's take a look at the products I got, shall we?

I got 4 of these loose chrome eye shadows in these lovely colors. They are quite pigmented and very soft to touch, unlike some of the MAC pigments I have. They go on super smooth, so far I love them but right now I have no idea how they will wear on my lids so I can't really rate them in terms of performance :)  Lagoon is pretty much the same as Shimmermoss e/s by MAC, so if you have that, skip this and save your money! This is my first time ever buying these chrome eye shadows, hopefully they won't let me down because I love the colors!

I got two lipsticks, for some reason I was thinking they are the "round lipsticks" but on them it says NYX Lips. Regardless, I love them! Colors are just gorgeous. I don't have any lipsticks of these colors, so that's perfect. Variety is good! I also got a lip liner (Hampton) which wasn't photographed but you can see it in the swatches above (my baaaadddd!)

Lastly, I got some falsies and Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk which I have been wanting forever! I can't believe I had these pencils in almost all the colors but this! I don't wear false eyelashes as much as I like to, these were $1/pair and I thought why not. I'm not too crazy about the one on the left, but the one right?? I likeeeeee, can't wait to rock these, SOON!

I think I am shopped out, seriously, I don't think I'll be buying any more make-up until Back to the Beach collection comes out in May. Now that I have all these products, I need to start doing more FOTDs!

Did you guys get anything from this sale??

What's in my MAC palettes?

Hey ladies!

Like most of us I have an ever-growing eye-shadow collection and yep mainly MAC ones. I know, it's like a disease without a cure! I don't even wanna think about how I'm going to cope with the temptation of wanting to buy everything from the new collections that will be out in the coming months. I'll make a list that way I'm not tempted when the time comes. If I already have ten neutral eye-shadows or pink lipsticks I guess I don't need another one even if the packaging is cute (is there such thing as having too many eye-shadows or lipsticks? I have no answer to this!) Anyhow, here are my eye-shadows that I wanted to share with you girls who knows maybe there is a color you wanted to see swatched or thought about getting. Hopefully this will be useful and can give you some ideas. I will put an * next to the ones that are my absolute favorites, I know you can tell a few of them since I hit pan on them!

Note:  N/N = no name. For reference, I noted the non-MAC ones by brand, so rest of them are by MAC.

 1) Naked Lunch* 2) Jest  3) Grain 4) Era* 5) Femme-Fi
6) Retro-speck 7) UD Baked 8) Goldmine 9) Coppering 10) Antiqued*
11) Brown Down 12) Print* 13) Club* 14) Carbon

   1) N/N Lancome 2) Aquavert 3) Humid 4) Steamy* 5) Shimmermoss
  6) Plumage 7) Prussian 8) Freshwater 9) Digit* 10) N/N Jane
 11) N/N Body Shop 12) Shale* 13) Nocturnelle* 14) Shadowy Lady 15) Pink Venus

P.S.: I also have the Birds & Berries eye shadow from Give Me Liberty of London collection, which I probably won't depot, at least not anytime soon because I love the packaging.

What's in my make-up bag?

Since my blog's name is "Ebrushka's Makeup Bag" I thought I'd let the whole world know what's actually in it. There is no way I would ever leave the house without it, even if I am going to the market, bank, gym wherever...I may need any of these products anytime! Yes, I LOVE to take precautions. As much as I love clutches, most of the time I dread using them because obviously I can't take all this stuff with me :S (but then I still take my makeup bag with me and leave it in the car lol or stuff a lipgloss or two in my hubby's pockets haha) So here we go!

First up I have my Benefit Erase Paste for things randomly appearing on my face, whether it's a zit or under eye bags...
My Burt's Bees lip balm just to moisturize my lips every now and then.
MSF for touch ups throughout the day, it also doubles up as a bronzer in my case ;)
Eco Tools brush for whatever needs to be brushed on my face ~ I particularly love this brush because it's really perfect - good price, good quality; does not shed at all and soft beyond words!
A blush is a must for pop of color! ~ I prefer one with a mirror such as a Nars one that way I don't have to carry a compact mirror which is additional weight on my shoulder! Oh and now is the perfect time to send a shout out to MAC, please do some blushes with mirrors so I can take my lovely MAC blushes along with me!
My MAC Angel lipstick is in my bag 99% of the time, even though I wear a different lipstick everyday. Ok I confess, sometimes I have 2 lipsticks or more at a time...
Rewetting drops for contacts for times when my contacts dry up my eyes out of the blue to the point where blinking hurts.
Must have something that smells good to freshen up - most of the time I have Viva la Juicy, loves itttt!!!!
I don't know why I always carry a mascara, because really when it dries on your lashes it's pointless to go back and apply more because you can't really...
A lipgloss - preferably a neutral color like this one from Smashbox - I usually have this one but will alternate between a few here and there.
Last but not least, a black eyeliner. I usually use my Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero, but carry my Ulta retractable eyeliner with me, I guess subconsciously I don't want to finish it too fast so I take a cheaper one with me to use through the day lol

I don't know if I should have called this post a tag, if anyone wants to do it feel free! I wanna know what everyone has in their makeup bag, who knows maybe I'm missing something in mine! :))

DANI Plum Flower Sugar Scrub

Hey girls!

I have been to a waxing salon a while back and was introduced to this brand while there. I was actually in need of a body scrub back then and decided to give it a try regardless of the price tag (it's $20.00 for 13 oz. container). Then, like many products, this container kind of went to the cabinet right below my sink and sat there for a good while until a few weeks ago I randomly felt the urge to organize. So I was pulling stuff out, moving them here and there, tossing some out, and I saw this scrub sitting there. After a whiff, I wanted to use it right away because the smell is just ahhhh so good! I don't know how to describe it, it smells very sweetp/plummy/fruity :) So I have been frequenting this scrub for quite some time now (on and off because Flake Away got between us) and I love it. I love Flake Away by Soap and Glory too, and I guess the battle is on, I will need to choose one or the other, who will win?? What I love about this brand is that they make natural bath products.  That is and will always be a plus for me. I say this all the time, yes I love make-up and beauty stuff and I know 90% of the products I use has a lot of chemicals in them but if I can do something good  for my skin, why not? So I do use natural and paraben-free products when I can, I'm always on the look out for them. Funny because at the time I purchased this scrub, I had no idea it was a natural product. DANI says that "DANI Natural Products® are made with 100% vegetable oil bases, pure soy waxes, essential oils, and organic ingredients whenever possible; and without petroleum, paraben, artificial colors, dyes, animal by-products, or sodium or ammonia laurel/laureth sulfates". They also don't do animal testing. Yay!! I looked up the website before using this scrub and read that you can use this after shaving and there will not be any stinging, initial reaction? Get outta here! Scrubbing after shaving? No thanks, I haven't lost it just yet. But of course deep inside I wanted to know, so I gave it a try anyway and I seriously didn't experience any stinging what-so-ever! And I have pretty sensitive skin! I personally scrub first then shave, but it's great to know there is a product out there which can reverse this routine if you really must do it that way, stuff happens. Overall I am very happy with this scrub, it exfoliates pretty good and leaves my skin super smooth. Also it doesn't leave that oily film after you dry your skin but at the same time I think it moisturizes well, I didn't experience any dryness or scale-like skin. If I could change one thing about this product, what would be? The packaging, I am not really crazy about containers, I get along better with tubes or pumped bottles. I will check out their body lotions! I am not sure what stores carry this brand, but they have products for sale on their website, click here if you're interested.

MAC Give Me Liberty of London Preview Event + HAUL!!!

Hey ladies!!!

I have been invited to the preview of MAC's upcoming collection Give Me Liberty of London and went to it this evening. According to the e-mail we were suppose to RSVP by March 1st since the event would be today, March 2. I put it off a bit because I wasn't sure if the new collection would be available for purchase. And as you can tell from the blog title, yes the new collection was available for purchase in deed! First of all, the store was packed...with crazy obsessed MAC addicts and cute guys serving cocktails and hors d'oeuvres! After checking in at the door, I ran with my camera in my hand straight to Give Me Liberty of London collection...

After drooling over these new products and "fighting" with other MAC addicts to have my turn to swatch, here is the outcome (of course we weren't really fighting hence the " but there were a lot of people inside with only 2 stands of Give Me Liberty of London, and everyone was dying to swatch!)

Has anyone else gone to the preview? If so, what did you end up buying? If not, do you like anything from this collection, what are you planning to buy?
