Just a few weeks ago, Sleek had free shipping to U.S. with $75 purchase. I had a few products on my wishlist that I was craving so badly but knew the total wouldn't add up to $75 so I put it off...literally for few minutes. Because that's when the lovely Kayla came to my rescue. She was a sweetheart to add my order to her own then ship my stuff to me that way we'd have free shipping.
I died when I saw Sleek's Caribbean collection ages ago. I know for some of you lucky girls Sleek is only a few feet away and this is old news. For us on this side of the pond, it's a big deal :) I knew I had to get the Bonaire Pout Polish and Aruba blush from the Caribbean. I was also looking for a red blush for fall/winter and I found Scandalous which I adore. I always wanted Exhibit A by NARS but could never bring myself to shell out money for a blush this color which I wouldn't use a lot. Well the two are almost identical, Exhibit A is just a tad more orange according to my swatch search. Because my life would be incomplete without a pink product, I also threw Powder Pink pout polish in my order as well.
Scandalous
It's a matte, very pigmented bright tomato red. It's everything I wanted it to be. The more I use Scandalous the more I fall in love with it. At first I thought I would throw it in my blush rotation every now and then to mix things up a bit. I'm already reaching for it quite a bit, I can see it becoming quite popular for me in fall/winter.
Aruba
I could have sworn it's close to the popular Taj Mahal by NARS but you can see below they are oceans apart. I thought Taj Mahal was a super bright and scary orange. Well let me reassure you, Aruba is what I thought Taj Mahal was. It's a matte, bright orange. Nothing to be scared about as long as you use a stippling brush. It's so beautiful in the pan and on cheeks.
Both of these blushes should be used sparingly unless you're going for a look in which you want cheeks to be the emphasis.Because they are so pigmented, I use a stippling brush to pick up just a little bit of color, which is more than enough. They both last all day on my normal skin, no need for touch ups! Sleek blushes retail for $6.50 on their website.
Taj Mahal on left, Aruba in the middle and Aruba blended on the right. As you can see Taj Mahal and Aruba are nothing alike.
Bonaire & Powder Pink
Bonaire is a light orange and Powder Pink is a bubblegum pink. Both shades are non-shimmery and apply like a dream. After they wear off, they leave lips smooth and conditioned. I don't find them to be sticky, which I loathe when it comes to lip products. They are tinted therefore are not opaque. They do enhance the color of other semi-opaque lip products in similar colors. Lasting power isn't the best, then again I haven't found that many lip glosses that last much longer than these pout polishes do. It's just against human nature. I'd say these last a couple of hours, considering you don't eat or drink. I love the added bonus, they are formulated with SPF 15! Sleek pout polishes have a vanilla/caramel smell and they can be overwhelming for some but I actually like it. The scent kind of reminds me of the Slatkin and Co candle in Frosted Cupcake. Pout polishes retail for $6.50

These products seem kind of loud and bright at first glance, almost as I am preparing for summer makeup. But I think they will all (ok maybe with the exception of Powder Pink) make great fall products. I love my reds and oranges (and browns, and taupes!) in fall :)
What do you think? What colors do you like for fall makeup/nail polishes?
Great haul! I love the blushes~ I have been wanting those for ages!
ReplyDeleteI recently got a Sleek order too!
ReplyDeleteI already had Powder Pink from a swap (love it) but I did pick up Peach Perfection, and Life's a Peach and Santorini Blushes. Love them!
I'm glad you love all of your Sleek goodies! =) Scandalous is one of the few Sleek blushes I don't own. It's so vibrant that it honestly petrifies me so I'm jealous that you're brave enough to give it a shot. I'd love to see you do a FOTD with it!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness... I am literally in love... I need to order from Sleek!
ReplyDeleteHi Ebru! I couldn't resist the free shipping to the US myself! I do think you missed out by not getting an eyeshadow palette or two. You are making me regret I didn't pick up any pout polishes! I LOVE Scandalous Blush! I would wear it more if I got to do my morning makeup in daylight... as it is I do it in nearly no light and I'm sure I'd overdo it. I'm so surprised Taj Mahal almost looks like a pumpkin shade next to Aruba. Nice haul :)
ReplyDeletethe sleek stuff looks absolutely gorgeous and pigmented ! damn we need it here! when it was released in the UK it was big news for the US girls too!
ReplyDeleteOMG, Sleek had free shipping to the US?!?! How did I not know this? ='( Great haul hun. I love everything you got. Soooo pretty.
ReplyDeletei have wanted to order from sleek forever, but i can't bring myself to order until my wishlist is super long, haha
ReplyDeletelove your haul, aruba is just TDF!
What a fun and bright haul. Scandalous IS a great alternative to Exhibit A =)
ReplyDeleteomg these colors are delicious! I want to try this brand so bad!
ReplyDeleteJEALOUS! So jealous! I've wanted to try everything you've swatched here so I'm happy for you.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blushes! Ah I still haven't made an order at Sleek, I'm so tempted by their blushes and pout polishes and a couple of iDivine palettes... Just wish our "drugstore" brands were a little bit more adventurous in their shade range and come up with such beautiful bright coloured blushes! And in that affordable price, too- they seem to be charging so much for their mediocre blushes :/
ReplyDeleteAAAwwwww...I can't believe I missed the free shipping offer! I've been wanting to order some sleek palettes for a while now. Ughhh...but I am loving the power pink pout polish!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with Aruba, it looks lovely! absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVeronica xx
these look wonderful. so bright! scandalous does look like exhibit a.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy! Me too, I've wanted them for so long, definitely recommend them :)
ReplyDeleteYay! I kind of regret that I didn't pick up Santorini, I hope they'll still have it when I'm ready for my next order! Enjoy your new goodies :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much again Kayla <3 I know, Scandalous is one crazy blush...I surprised myself with my courage lol I will do an FOTD soon hopefully :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you end up getting Laisa, yay!
ReplyDeleteHey Sarah, I actually own a Sleek palette but for some reason I just don't use it much :/ That was the main reason I didn't get a palette this time, it would most likely end up collecting dust...Yep Scandalous (crazy color!) definitely needs some good lighting when being applied :D
ReplyDeleteSleek stuff is much MUCH better than our drugstore stuff. And at these prices?? We really need it here!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, it better be worth their crazy shipping costs! Can't wait to see your haul Janine, I'm sure you'll pick some gorgeous stuff :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! According to swatches I've seen online, they look pretty darn similar...so glad to have saved few bucks :)
ReplyDeleteJessica, I know they look like candy! :) You won't be disappointed with Sleek, let me tell you!
ReplyDeleteThanks hun! I hope they do another free shipping event so most of us girls have the chance to try their amazing products :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have agreed more! Our drugstore makeup is plain boring, no fun colors besides the latest Milani multi-color eyeshadow compact or the Wet n Wild trios they released earlier this year. I can't even think of anything else! I wish we had cool European brands with amazing colors in our drugstores....hopefully one day!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will do another promotion close to the holidays, I almost have no doubts about it :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful color, in love with it already!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelly! Glad I didn't get Exhibit A because I was really planning to...so thankful I came across Scandalous, you know those NARS blushes cost a fortune! lol
