August Favorites

Happy September!!!

I don't know about you but I'm definitely looking forward to a brand new season and new fall makeup trends. I love summer and will definitely miss many things about it, but I'm ready for a change. In August I have kept things pretty simple for the most parts. Here are the products I've enjoyed the most!

I loved my YSL Gloss Pur #2 for daytime looks, it's a versatile milky baby pink. My other lip product obsession has been Sleek's pout polish in Bonaire. Don't be fooled by its brightness in the pot, once applied it leaves lips with a wearable light orange tint.

I have gone to my daily quad for most of my eye makeup looks this month. This is my go-to palette (besides my Too Faced Natural Eye) for daytime looks. And thanks to MAC's Print I can go from day to night in a snap. If you're wondering, I have Grain on top left, All That Glitters on top right, Patina on bottom left and Print on bottom right.

Elf's blush and bronzer duo's bronzer is one of my favorite bronzers that I use for contouring. I just love that it defines my cheekbones perfectly. For me it's also a two in one kind of product as I love using it as a blush too! While I love the color of this bronzer, I could never find the perfect brush to use it with. That's when I met Sigma's small contour brush. They are perfect together and I used them like crazy in August. As you can see I used the bronzer so much I even hit pan on it! :)

I've been absolutely loving glittery nail polish. At first my favorite was Milani's Jewel FX in Gold (which I still love) but when I saw Sephora by OPI's Spark-tacular my heart skipped a beat! On days where I wanted more polished hands I opted for OPI's Mod About You. And finally Essie's Trophy Wife has been going strong on my toes. I keep removing and reapplying like there is no tomorrow.

What are some of your August favorites?

  2. The bronzer side from this Elf duo is my go-to choice for contouring! I only wish it came with a pinkier and less glittery blush on the side... During August I used a lot of my Honey matte bronzer from the Body Shop, it's growing into a top-favourite!

  4. I adore that quad that you've created!

I definitely jumped into the orange lip trend and now i'm worrying about all the purchases I made that I HAVEN'T been able to use! Haha. Oh well. Fall will just have to tolerate my orange lippies D<

  5. Great favourites, as always! That Sleek polish especially is calling out to me, especially since in Australia we're heading into warmer months. I loved loved loved my Tarte Dollface in August, but I think when the weather warms up here Tipsy will take its place.

  8. Congrats on hitting pan on that eyeshadow quad! Love all your nail polish faves, the gold is gorgeous. The ELF duo looks like a nice dupe of the NARS Laguna/Orgasm duo.

  9. Did you buy the sleek gloss online or in a store?

  10. Lovely! Sparkly nails are my lifeblood right now. I love Print and Patina too, great go-to shades. I have recently been rediscovering Naked Lunch, a shade that I initially wasn't fond of but now enjoy. In August I wore a lot of cream blush and cream shadows. :)

  14. That gloss looks soooo pretty! I really want a high end gloss cuz I hate how cheapo ones turn plasticy and gross after a while! I may consider the YSL :)

  16. Yay that's great, it's definitely in my top 5 for contouring. Yeah I'm also not crazy about the blush side. I always wanted to get that honey bronzer from TBS, I need to get my hands on it before they discontinue it or something! Thanks for reminding me :)

  17. Thank you! Wow just Googled Austin-Tacious Turquoise and they look pretty similar! I think Trophy Wife is a tad darker but who cares...would be a good dupe if one got discontinued :)

  18. Glad you like it, it's great for everyday :) Orange is such a beautiful attractive color, I cannot even blame you for grabbing everything orange in sight :) You can use orange in fall, it'd be perfect I think :)

  22. Thanks Kalmo, I actually hit pan on Print and Grain long time ago a while ago, it's been a slow progress since then :) They're pretty close, I absolutely love the bronzer side (as much as I loved Laguna) ;)

  25. Thank you Danielle, yay for sparkly nails! ;) Naked Lunch is a lovely shade that doesn't get much love from me for some reason...I need to show it some love! I need to learn to enjoy cream blushes and shadows, I just don't know where to start!

  26. Yes you do, they are so pretty and cute and everything in between :) You cannot go wrong with adding Print to your collection, let me tell you! If you like grey smokey eyes, you need it! How could you just let it collect dust?? :p

  27. Thanks Virginia :) Looks like you had a pretty colorful and shimmery month! So envious that you can wear lavender lips they make me look like a corpse, hope you had a lovely time in Vegas :)

  28. Ummm yeahhhh you do! Go get it already woman! Nope I don't, I could never find it booo! :/

  29. This was my first YSL gloss and I really love it. It's not sticky at all! I think Revlon makes some good lip glosses as well if you don't wanna spend too much money on a good lip gloss. Oh I just replied to your tweet then I see you're trying to decide between Print and Scene lol They are both great colors. Print is definitely dark, buildable and I think you can even wear it during the day as long as you apply it lightly. Scene is a light grey with light purplish tint which can be worn during the day. I also really like wearing them together, Scene all over lid, Print on crease. They make a stunning nighttime look :)
