MAC Ravishing & Friends

As you may already know, I have a huge slight obsession with peaches, corals, peachy-corals...you get the point. I usually focus on two types of products when it comes to these gorgeous shades; blushes and lipsticks. So when I saw MAC had a lipstick called Ravishing, I decided it only makes sense to add it to my collection. According to my swatch search it was not supposed to look this similar to all the other lipsticks I own in this shade.

But it does. After seeing Ravishing in person, I immediately ran to my other lipsticks. Guess which 3 came to mind first!

L-R:

Ravishing - Cremesheen
Jazzed - Cremesheen
Ever Hip - Cremesheen
Gotta Dash - Sheen Supreme Lipstick

Verdict...

They are all somewhat similar once applied. In my opinion, Ravishing seems to be the most pigmented of them all even though Ravishing, Jazzed and Ever Hip are all in Cremesheen finish. Gotta Dash pulls a bit more towards orange than the other three.Gotta Dash is also a different type of lipstick as it's from MAC's Sheen Supreme line. I feel like with Sheen Supremes, lips need a bit of prepping due to their texture. They seem to cause the product to settle in cracks on lips. I do love Ravishing and I will keep it. Jazzed and Ever Hip being Limited Edition products makes me feel a littler better about Ravishing.

What do you think? Is there a lipstick shade that you just can't resist?

  1. It's nice to have a variety of coral shades! :) These peachy coral lipsticks are look fantastic on you. Thanks for the pretty swatches, my favorite is Ravishing and I agree, it looks the most pigmented. ^^

Oh gosh, they all do look rather similar, but they're so pretty I still think you need all 4! I can't resist pink shades. x

  5. Yay! Peachy Corals for the win! They all look great on you! I actually found a drugstore dupe for Ravishing too. It's Revlon Peaches! But I still love my trusty Ravishing. Gotta Dash is in my top favorites!

  10. All of these look great! :) I regret not buyign Jazzed now :( I'll add it to my "track-and-find-no-matter-what" list  I'm a little surprised that you dont have Crosswires. I think you'd like it too :)

I can't resist nude-browns (like Viva Glam V) and strawberry pinkish lustre finishes (like Gem of Roses) or pinky corals like Crosswires.

  13. I've always looked at Ravishing and worried it'll pull too orange.. but I should give it a try :) I wish I had Jazzed and Ever Hip, jealous! Gotta Dash looks like a nice candidate too :)

  14. Thank you :) I feel kind of funny having all these colors that are so close to each other. I mean a non makeup person would think I'm wearing the same color if I wore a different one on a 4 day frame :) Ravishing is gorgeous though if you've missed out on Ever Hip and Jazzed :)

  15. Oh I know what you mean, I'm a total sucker for these colors :)

  16. It doesn't really look frosty to/on me at all...you should definitely try it on in store when you can, if you haven't already. It does look kind of glossy like all Cremesheens though.

  19. Oops I "hate" when that happens :)

  20. They aren't exactly the same but pretty close, at least it'll "hold you over" until Ever Hip is (hopefully!) re-promoted someday :)

  21. You have a back up for Jazzed??? Lucky! Wish I could have got two! :) If you have those two, you can definitely save money by skipping Ravishing, I know it's hard because it's just too gorgeous :)

  22. Ah Jazzed was gorgeous, who knows perhaps MAC will bring it back one day? Crosswires has been on my list for such a long time, I will need to hunt it down somewhere :) Thanks for reminding me!

  23. They are definitely super close once applied, with the exception of Gotta Dash! kind of...When I looked up swatches, I saw a different color so I had no idea it'd be so close to everything else I own in this shade :) I just decided to put it out there so I can help someone save $ ;)

  28. I completely forgot about ravishing. Then I went to my MAC counter and asked for them to give me something that would look good on me. 8D Guess who has ravishing now?

  29. OMG that's great! I can't believe Ravishing was what came to their minds , so it's a perfect match!!! Hey a MAC makeup artist approved it, so it must look stunning on you! Hope you enjoy it :D

  30. I love all of these! I have Ever Hip, and I totally love it. I think I need something similar to it :D

  31. I just bought Ravishing a few weeks ago. I always aim for peachy & coral shades as well. Hot pink or red are a little too bold to wear for an everyday look for me, so I always opt for peachy & coral shades. Same as in blushes. I own Vegas Volt & Costa Chic as well. Costa Chic is lighter than Ravishing. Ravish is more pigmented & I only apply lightly. Jazzed & Ever Hip are still on my wishlist =/. Do you own any YSL lippies? They have really pretty peach/pinky coral colors!

  33. Does ravishing apply smooth? I got one from a swap and it does not apply as smooth as my other MAC lipsticks, although this is my only cremesheen.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi Sheryl, yes I find it to apply quite smoothly. Cremesheen finish is my favorite at MAC and I find all of my cremesheens to apply very smooth. I think for some people, it may be necessary to prep lips prior to applying them as they are very creamy and can settle in the cracks on lips...
