Discovering - TheBalm

I have heard of TheBalm many times before, thanks to all the blog posts I have seen featuring their gorgeous products. I just didn't know which part of the brand I should tackle first. So I made a small list of few products and forgot about them once I stepped a foot in Sephora. It's just really difficult to follow a list and is very easy to lose track in that store! :D

While shopping at TjMaxx the other day, I decided to check out the bath/body/beauty area....and what do I see? A huge shelf of TheBalm goods! Score!

First Impressions of the brand...

 - TheBalm has great sense of humor, product/shade names clearly show that!
- Cute and fun packaging
- All products (at least the ones I have shown in this post) are compacts, in other words come with mirrors
- Even more importantly majority of TheBalm products are formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances/Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs and Triclosan

I didn't include any swatches in this as this post is just a haul/first impressions post. I think it'd be more appropriate to include swatches with reviews which I will do for each as I try them.

Bahama Mama
Bronzer

Frat Boy
Peach/Apricot Blush

Shady Lady Vol. 3
9 Shimmery Eye Shadows/Eyeliners

Meet Matt(e)
9 Matt Shades

Betty-Lou Manizer
All-in-one Gold Highlighting/Bronzing Powder, Eyeshadow

If you have been wanting to try TheBalm (at more affordable prices) definitely check out your local T.J.Maxx or Marshalls stores. I know these stores can be totally unpredictable but in my opinion it's worth a try! I got all of these products for at least half off their retail prices if not more.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend! ♥

Have you tried any of these products?

  18. Wow you went all out lady! I have a blush from them, and the bronzer that you mentioned. I love the bronzer, but it only works for me in the summer, in the winter it's a little too dark...I'm going to have to pack it up soon :(

  26. These stores are such a hit or miss it's not even funny. I hope you'll be able to find them too, if you're looking for them :) Actually my store was packed with H2O, Philosophy as well and I also saw a Shiseido sunscreen (and was tempted to buy!) but I stayed away :) What sucks is usually people terrorize the crap out of makeup, I've seen many messed up palettes!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I saw the palette you're talking about but passed because I don't really like lip products/blushes in palettes since I usually bring my lipstick/blush along for touch-ups :) Glad you were able to find it though, enjoy it! :)

  28. Packaging is to die for, I love them too :) I hope you'll be able to find them! <3

  29. Yep it's hard to believe! I hope you were able to find them Rachel :)

  33. I was too, so surprised that it makes me wonder what all these products were doing at TjMaxx. They definitely don't feel/smell old but it's kind of weird...If you have a TjMaxx where you live, definitely check it out you may find it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Definitely worth to try, you never know :) I've seen Hot Mama many times but unfortunately wasn't able to find it at TjMaxx, I will keep checking to see if I can find it :)

  41. Right! Who would have thought...did you check out your stores?? :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well it was hard not to when I saw the prices :D I think I know what you mean, it does look like it'd be too dark for winter, even for me :/

    ReplyDelete
  43. I already do, how gorgeous! :) I hope you can find them at your stores lady!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I feel like I was the last person to try Frat Boy :) but I'm glad I finally had the chance, it's so beautiful! It totally is and I don't know why!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hope you can find it, I love all the colors!

    ReplyDelete
  46. They had Shady Lady Vol 2 as well but of course it was messed up because someone decided to swatch them lol I will be doing reviews on them within a week or so :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yayyyyy! So happy you were able to find all of those goodies Maureen, enjoy them! :) You're very welcome!

  48. I know what you mean, my store usually has a lot of opened and surprisingly even stolen makeup as well! TjMaxx definitely needs to put makeup in protective boxes as they do with their perfumes. It only makes sense! I hope you can find some products you like at your stores, can't beat the prices! :)

  54. hey girl, thebalm is soo underrated- i have been using their products for years and <33 them! i went to tjmaxx as soon as i saw this and scored some more products! i got a set of the betty lumizer and the mary luminzer together and they are gorgeous. i might go back and get an eyeshadow palette! their eyeshadows are SO pigmented and creamy, they are honestly some of the nicest eyeshadows i have ever used. their concealer is also awesome if you ever get a chance to try! AND the blush called hot mama is a nars orgasm dupe, except its wayyy more pigmented so it may seem darker, but its a peachy pink with gold shimmers just like orgasm. just wanted to let ya kno!! <333

  55. I will have to agree with you, this is my first time using their products and I'm already in love! I'm glad you were able to find all those products, yay! I would love to try their concealer too but haven't been able to spot any at TjMaxx just yet, I will keep my eyes open for it though. Thanks so much for your recommendations :)
