Essie Mojito Madness

I have been looking for a nail polish this exact shade of green for such a long time! I didn't even know when Essie is coming out with their summer 2012 collection, then recently stumbled upon it at Target. When I saw this green in the new collection, my heart skipped a beat. The search is finally over!

Essie calls Mojito Madness lime green but I personally think it leans more towards grass green. I think it's such a fun summer nail polish that will also look great on toes. Just like most Essie polishes, Mojito Madness is a breeze to apply. It's in creme finish and has no shimmer, glitter or anything of that sort. It's perfectly opaque after the typical 2 coats. I am wearing a top coat (Seche Vite) in my photo below.

Sonuc: 2 kat = opaklik. Ayrica 2 katin ustune birde Seche Vite top coat surdum.

Spark-tacular

Who goes to Sephora to buy a particular product and walks out with that product plus something totally unplanned? Me! I had absolutely no intentions of buying nail polish while at Sephora. The main reason I went to Sephora was because I ran out of my favorite Lavanila deodorant and needed to buy a new one. Sephora needs to stop placing all those gorgeous nail polishes right next to the checkout area. Standing in the line, I my eyes met the glorious nail polish rack. So I walked out with the first nail polish that caught my eye...Spark-tacular.

Sephora by O.P.I Spark-tacular AKA Party in a bottle!

I've been on a glittery nail polish kick lately. It all started with...I don't even remember! But they have a special place in my heart. I was previously contemplating getting Deborah Lippman's Happy Birthday but $18 a pop discouraged the heck out of me, I mean it is glitter after all. While the two aren't dupes, as Happy Birthday has much chunkier glitters, Spark-tacular will suffice. Spark-tacular has some bigger glitter pieces but majority of it is small glitter pieces. I think it has every color one can think of.

I really wanted a white base for this top coat, so I made a pit stop at Sally Beauty Supply and grabbed China Glaze White on White. Without a doubt, they complete each other.

On the left photo, I have only one coat of Spark-tacular and on the right I have two (with the exception of index finger). I love them both! I was in the mood for very glittery nails so that's why I went for the second coat.

P.S. Kudos to Sephora for having nail polish testers. That makes the life of a nail polish addict much easier!

Do you like glittery nails? What are your favorite glitter polishes?

Topless & Barefoot

....is one of the six colors in Essie's newest collection "A French Affair". Honestly at first, I thought..."yet another neutral/nude nail polish!". But when I compared to my other Essie neutral polishes, I realized it's quite unique!

L-R: Baby's Breath, Prima Ballerina, Topless & Barefoot, Naked Truth

My first experience with Topless & Barefoot was a total disappointment. By habit, I do not apply nail polish to my bare nails, meaning I apply base coat first. So I applied my base coat, then went for the color. It was so streaky, it hurt my eyes. I immediately declared it the worst polish I ever owned. The formula is quite runny too in my opinion. It almost feels like they may have left out the thickening agent (whatever it is, I am no chemist I don't know lol) and so it ended up a little runnier than it should have. If the first coat didn't apply so streaky, I would have definitely said you can achieve decent opacity with only one coat. However, as I haven't been able to have anything but streaks in the first coat so I suggest others to apply two coats like I do.

2 coats + Top coat

Couple days ago, I decided to give it another go, this time without any base coat. Leaving out the base coat worked like a charm! I mean charm as in, first coat was still bit of a disaster and second coat made everything okay. I absolutely adore the color, it's not a typical nude/beige and has a hint of baby pink to it. Perhaps I wouldn't be receiving so many compliments from random people about my nails if it were just a regular nude he he It's perfect for the spring season and even in summer when you wanna keep it lady-like :) ! I will just have to bear with the messy application for the sake of this gorgeous shade. I am a sucker for nudes! What can I do?

Did those of you that picked up Topless & Barefoot experience the same streaky application?

What do you think about this color?

NOTD: O.P.I Lucky Lucky Lavender

Hey girls!

Here are my nails today! Yes, I do change my nail polish every other day I love nail polishes that much! :) I have been loving shades of purple on my nails these days. I love purple in general, it's such an attractive and beautiful color and I think it's a color most people can pull off. I bought Lucky Lucky Lavender after seeing it on Lorraine's nails, the moment I saw it I knew I had to have it! I love lavender, at least on my nails. I definitely cannot pull it off in lipsticks, I regret buying Blooming Lovely from MAC's Liberty of London collection, even though it's so pretty!

Lucky Lucky Lavender is from O.P.I's Hong Kong Collection (Spring/Summer 2010). Honestly when I first saw the colors from this collection, getting this particular color didn't cross my mind, at all. Application like all O.P.I nail polishes was a bliss. As usual, no streaking, even coating, you know typical characteristics of O.P.I polishes. I think this color would be great on toes as well and with a tan, it would look so amazing. Can't wait to be tanned!!! One thing that caught my attention during application was that, the formula of this color seems to be more runny than other ones, it was kind of bizarre. Here I have a base coat, two coats of Lucky Lucky Lavender and a top coat. I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

NOTD: China Glaze FLY

Hello lovies!

Well, after obsessing over China Glaze Peachy Keen for almost a week, I decided it was time for a change. Nail polish change that is! I was going through my collection of nail polishes and came across this color that I honestly don't remember ever using before. I know, it IS crazy to buy nail polish and never use it as most nail polishes don't have long shelf life. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm happy I got "reconnected" with this gorgeous color.

Fly was part of a China Glaze collection called Kicks which came out in 2009. I would call this color a cross between raspberry and purple, raspberry-ish purple or purplish raspberry, something like that! It has pink flecks with micro shimmer. I totally forgot to take pictures of how nails look with one coat, but anyway it's nearly impossible to wear any nail polish with only one coat. As with most China Glaze nail polishes, application is a bliss. Formula has great consistency, applies evenly and smoothly. No streaking at all! I also love the staying power, I've been wearing this color for two days now and no chipping yay! I do apply a top coat every other day just to keep the shine though. On my nails I have a base coat, two coats of FLY and top coat. Voila!

NOTD: Sephora By O.P.I - On Stage

Hey everyone!

Here is what I have on my nails today. I left my nails alone for a few days so they breathe a little bit (and as you can see I trimmed them because one chipped and then broke so I filed all of them down) and yesterday as I was going through my nail polish box I realized I neglected this color for a while so I thought why not use it! This is my first nail polish that I bought from Sephora by O.P.I. I have used Sephora nail polishes in the past and was very unhappy with them both because the brush was very cheap quality and the polish went bad super fast. I was skeptical buying On Stage but seeing O.P.I on it made me feel better because O.P.I really makes some of the best nail polishes, if not the best. I love love love this color, I want to call it mauve taupe? Does look like some shade of purple/plum, Sephora calls it grey plum. Applying it is fairly easy, mostly because the formula is good. Brush could definitely improve and be thicker needless to say it's lacking bristles big time. Look at the comparison of it to an O.P.I brush. It is $9 and I think for that price, they could have made a better brush. Even O.P.I nail polishes are cheaper than that at $8.50 :) I'm also wondering O.P.I's contribution to these nail polishes since they chip pretty easy, I only had this color on for 24 hours WITH a top coat and I am already beginning to see the tips of my nails. I don't have this problem with a regular O.P.I nail polish, at all, even without a top coat. Could it be a marketing trick, since I am sure Sephora knows people will be more likely to buy the nail polish if they see an O.P.I on it? Who knows...As with most nail polishes, I recommend two coats of this. Is there a nail polish that looks good with only 1 coat? I doubt it, let me know though! I confess, sometimes if I am in a hurry and don't want to leave my nails bare I will thrown on a coat even though I know it looks so unglamorous...I am wearing my nail hardener as a base coat, 2 coats of On Stage and a top coat.

NOTD: China Glaze - For Audrey

Audrey Hepburn? Possibly! This is a total Tiffany's blue nail polish and I am sure China Glaze was dying to call this "Tiffany Blue" but unfortunately Tiffany & Co holds the trademark for this color. Regardless it's a beautiful turquoise color which is one of my favorite colors EVER. Turquoise gives me sense of peace and reminds me of the Mediterranean Sea and summer...ahh bliss!

China Glaze makes good nail polishes and I love the colors they come up with but I'm not really crazy about their brushes. They need learn to master the art of brush making from OPI! I think CG brushes are too long and thin. Long brushes make applying the polish evenly so difficult. If they make shorter brushes with more bristles like OPI does, then really all you need to do is dip the brush in nail polish and in one "swipe" you can coat your nails, or at least this is how it is in my case. I'm not even putting up a picture of how this polish looked with only 1 coat, you really can't get away with 1 coat with this baby! I suggest 2, but if you can do 3 even better!

For Audrey is definitely not your everyday color (I guess it depends on what you do/work) it's in the fun polish for weekend category. I think it would be a fun idea to use this color on toes for your "Something Blue" in your wedding if you wanna spice things up a bit or if you're having a Breakfast at Tiffany's themed party etc.

Here I have my nail hardener as my base coat, 2 coats of polish and top coat.

NOTD: O.P.I Pamplona Purple

Hey everyone!

Here is what I have on my nails today and probably I will keep this color for 3-4 days since it's one of my favorites! Pamplona Purple is a very pretty plum color and is part of the O.P.I EspaƱa collection. I like to wear this color on nails and toes too, another reason to love it! I'm sure you can easily find it on eBay or Amazon, if you don't want to pay full price. I love O.P.I nail polishes in general and purchase them more than any other brand. Before applying the polish, I applied a coat of Sally Hansen Hard As Nails nail strengthener (which I love, I need to do a review on this!) Below you can see how nails look with 1 and 2 coats. They actually look like two different colors, after applying the second coat I think I achieved the same color that's in the bottle. I normally do two coats no matter what the color is, as you can see one coat looks streaky and bad!

NOTD: Sinful Colors - Beautiful Girl

I have been looking for a barbie pink nail polish for such a long time! My sister actually gave me a similar color but it went bad before I got to use it. I admit, I have too many nail polishes and it's sad that some go bad because I don't have the chance to really use them, I will need to downsize ugh (if possible...)! Anyhow, this is the other color I got along with Easy Going and this one is called Beautiful Girl, obviously not as creative of a name as OPI or Essie nail polishes but oh well, at this price ($1.99) and quality I will keep my mouth shut! I'm not sure if the change of color really impacts the formula. I have some Essie polishes that go on beyond streaky and look gross even after 2 coats, then I have other ones from Essie that go on smooth, so maybe color does effect the formula! In this case, I had the same experience as I had with Easy Going. However because I wanted a richer color I applied 3 coats and I love the results!

As you can see from the above photo you'd be better off not wearing this nail polish if you're planning to apply only 1 coat, in my opinion nails look bad if the white tips show unless it's French manicure of course.

If you apply 2 coats, you can still see the tips but not so bad, surely it depends on the nails since some people don't have their nails long enough to see the tips.

Third coat has a pretty good result I think, you can barely see the tips and keep in mind this is a picture taken with flash.

What do you think about Sinful Colors?

NOTD: Sinful Colors - Easy Going

Hey ladies!

Just wanted to do a quick post about this nail-polish I am currently loving! I went to Walgreen's the other day (we ran out of Advil what a coincidence!) and while I was looking for Advil I somehow found myself in the nail-polish aisle oh-uh! I usually never buy drugstore polishes because they always go bad super fast. I especially stayed away from Sinful Colors because I previously had a bad experience with their polishes. However, I like giving second chances so I thought why not now so I got two colors for $1.99 each, I have been wearing Easy Going for two days now and I'm very happy with it. I'm pretty sure they changed their formula, it's totally different than how it used to be. I like the brush, it applies the polish very even and absolutely no streaking! When it comes to color it's a pale pastel pink, one coat won't be enough if you want to get that milky color. I did two coats, but now that I think about I could have easily done the third coat, I was short on time so just left it at two coats otherwise it'd take forever to dry. I don't have a topcoat in this picture. Even without a top coat I think my nails look pretty shiny. Also I just cooked for an hour and washed hands frequently while doing so, and I am not seeing any chipping, amazing! $1.99 nail-polish that doesn't chip after an hour of cooking gets an A+ from moi!
