Prestige My Blackest Lashes

Prestige's My Blackest Lashes mascara received quite a bit of hype among bloggers and Youtube gurus. I have waited this long to try it because I always thought "a drugstore mascara better than L'oreal Voluminous? I don't think so". Prestige also isn't readily available near me or so I thought...as one day at Ulta I bumped into a Prestige display and there it was! I picked up the last one without thinking twice. Oh the curiosity!

Prestige'in My Blackest Lashes maskarasi Youtube'da ve bloggerlar arasinda epey konusuldu. Merak iste...

The shiny black tube is pretty sleek for a drugstore mascara. I also thought it's cheaply made as after an accidental drop, the cap cracked. The wand is much shorter than what I'm used to with L'oreal Voluminous. However both brands' medium length bristles are comparable. My Blackest Lashes is a fantastic, lengthening and volumizing mascara. It is very good at creating a false-lash effect and makes lashes look unbelievably black. I have not experienced any budging, smudging or flaking while using it. Now, it's a little clumpy which is a plus for me as I like my lashes to look thicker and fuller. Those who like their mascara to separate and define their lashes may not like this one! I am also amazed at its ability to hold the curl throughout the entire day. Formula is just a tad dryer than Voluminous. The only downside with My Blackest Lashes is that it require a few more coats to achieve the look I do with Voluminous in 2-3 coats. But because it's otherwise an amazing mascara, I can easily overlook that minor "flaw".

Uzunluk ve hacim saglayan My Blackest Lashes'le ayni zamanda kirpiklere kazandirdigi simsiyah gorunumle, takma kirpik efekti yaratmak mumkun. Gun boyunca kivrilmis kirpikleri koruyabilmeside beni epeyce sasirtti. Formulunu Voluminous'a gore biraz daha kuru buldum. Bu iki sahane maskara arasindaki tek muhim fark ise, kirpiklerde istedigim goruntuyu Voluminous'la sadece 2-3 katla yakalayabilmem. My Blackest Lash ise birkac kat daha istiyor.

My Blackest Lashes costs about $6.50 for a.40oz tube and Voluminous is $7.50 for a .28oz tube (although L'oreal products can easily be scored for a much better deal at drugstores and Ulta since there's almost always a promotion going on).

My Blackest Lashes'in fiyati $6.50 (.40 oz) Voluminous ise $7.50 (.28oz).

In conclusion, I believe My Blackest Lashes is definitely up to par. I definitely recommend you to check it out if you're shopping for a new mascara with the qualities I have talked about above. I can confidently say that Voluminous is still my HG mascara. Reasons? 1. Curved brush option. Curved brush means everything to me because it reaches the smallest area, the inner corners! 2. The effect I want from a mascara doesn't require as many coats with Voluminous. It's not such a big deal, just a time saver in my opinion.

Sonuc olarak My Blackest Lashes'i sevdim ve neredeyse Voluminous kadar basarili bir maskara oldugunu dusunuyorum. Voluminous'in hala favori maskaram olmasinin 2 ana nedeni ise - 1. Kivrik firca secenegi.

Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara

In the past year, I don't recall how many times I have seen or read about Smoky Lash all over blogosphere! I knew I would have to eventually try it for myself. I just couldn't say goodbye to my Voluminous, even temporarily. I had a little hiccup recently due to the way my last tube of Voluminous performed. I have been kind of let down with it actually. About 2 months ago, I replaced my old Voluminous for a new one. Everything was cool until few weeks ago, out of the blue it started getting all clumpy and gross. Needless to say I had to chuck it. Only Smoky Lash could mend my little broken heart! And so off to Sephora I went...

Smoky Lash comes in it's own black box. I like the black packaging with white letters, it looks simple and neat.

I've been using Smoky Lash for a few weeks now and I'm really happy with it. As you can see from my photos below, it really takes lashes to another level! They may not look exactly like false lashes but I think Smoky Lash gets pretty darn close to it! It does remind me a lot of L'oreal Voluminous just that Voluminous' formula is a bit more mushy and the one I use has a curved brush. They deliver similar results though. Smoky lash has a medium-length dense brush. Short and wide bristles pack a good amount of mascara on them.  Unscented formula is neither too runny nor too thick. The only thing this mascara does not do is separating lashes. It won't make lashes totally clumpy but won't separate them one by one either. I personally don't like mascaras that give natural-looking-lash effect so it works out perfect for me! I know there are a few mascaras in the market that don't change the way your lashes look no matter how many coats you apply. I have found that with this mascara, if you apply multiple (5+) coats (like I did in my photos below) you can get quite a dramatic effect on your lashes. 2-3 coats will still give you added volume and length but I am all about drama when it comes to lashes so I apply a bit more! I also love its staying power, it lasts! I wore this mascara on NYE, when I came back home from a long night out my lashes looked exactly the same as when I put on the mascara, no flaking either!!

I'm so happy to have finally tried Smoky Lash! Based on my experience, it really does live up to all the hype it gets as it does everything it claims to do; it volumizes, lengthens and curls! The only thing that could prevent me from repurchasing it could be its $22 price tag especially when it's quite comparable to a drugstore mascara.

Have you guys tried Smoky Lash?

Maybelline The Falsies Volum'Express Mascara

Hey everyone!

Ok I've done something bad...I cheated on my L'oreal Voluminous mascara with this new Falsies mascara by Maybelline, oops! While I love to stick to what works for me (and Voluminous does a wonderful job) sometimes I just can't help but wonder about what else is out there, can you blame me? Launch of Falsies coincided with me finishing up my current tube of Voluminous so I went ahead and purchased this. After coming home I did what I should have done prior to my purchase and googled Falsies mascara. I read numerous mix of good, bad and so-so reviews. I kept it anyway.

I like the packaging because purple is one of my favorite colors and the metallic blue writing on it is just as cool! Maybelline definitely knows how to attract potential buyers with bright colored containers!

The curved brush has medium length bristles that we see on most of the mascaras.

Wand itself is very flexible and actually bends, Maybelline calls it the 'spoon brush' for that reason. I personally don't think that adds anything to the mascara's capabilities.

You can see my natural eyelashes in the above picture...

Hello spider legs!

My thoughts...
Speaking on behalf of my lashes, it really fans them out and that's pretty much it. It does a so-so job separating lashes. I did witness clumping which I am not a fan of, who is anyway? I personally don't really like spider lashes. I also don't feel like it added so much length. Any mascara will add some length whether it's a good or bad mascara. This mascara does not deliver a false lash look like Maybelline claims it does, at all. I haven't seen any added intensity or volume either. Unfortunately as if all these negative thoughts weren't enough I have also felt that staying power of this mascara throughout the day is pretty lame. About 6-7 hours after application, my lashes looked naked. Where has all the mascara gone? I have no clue, it vanished into thin air! Sorry Maybelline, I like and enjoy using many of your other products but this mascara just doesn't do much for me! Needless to say I will not be repurchasing Falsies, in fact I'll run to the drugstore now and beg my Voluminous to take me back! :)

If you purchased and used this mascara, what are your thoughts on it?

Battle of the Mascaras

Hey girls!!!

I have gone through countless numbers of mascaras ever since I've started doing make-up. I had some good ones and I had some bad ones. Few weeks ago when I was cleaning out my make-up storage cases, I came across some used up mascara containers and wondered why I didn't toss them? (And it's so not me to keep stuff, I am not a hoarder AT ALL, I throw away everything lol)  I guess this post was just meant to be!

I have been thinking of doing a mascara-comparison post for a while now, so now that I have time I am putting my plan into action, here we go! FYI: There are bunch of other ones I used however it's just really hard for me to keep track of them because they were a long time ago, so I am keeping it limited to the ones I have the empty containers of and Too Faced Lash Injection which I remember so well because of it's (gross) smell.

Covergirl Lashblast

Thoughts: Thicker, fuller and longer lashes in no time! Has been my HG mascara pretty much since it came out. I first saw it on youtube, not sure who was wearing/reviewing it and decided to give it a go. I've been loving it since then! I've been naturally blessed in the lash department and I frequently get asked if I am wearing false lashes. This mascara plays a big role in it though! ;)

Brush: Is more like a wand with really tiny short bristles
Pros: Lengthening, thickening, volumizing, defining, perfect consistency, no clumping, smudging or flaking, lasts for hours (Wore it to many special occasions, NYE, birthdays...lashes looked exactly like when I left the house!) comes off easily
Cons: None!
Price: $ 8.39

Lancome Hypnose

Thoughts: I'm sad to say that I stopped using Hypnose when I started using Lashblast. Don't get me wrong Hypnose I still love you but you're a bit expensive to use continuously (with the money I pay for a Hypnose, I could get 3 Lashblasts lol)

Brush: Thin brush with short-to-medium length bristles
Pros: Lengthening and separating
Cons: Formula is too thin, requires way too many coats, isn't volumizing ~ don't expect fuller lashes with this one!
Price: $24.50

L'oreal Voluminous

Thoughts: I think this mascara is great if you want dramatic lashes with lots of definition!

Brush: Thick curved, plush brush with medium length bristles
Pros: Lengthens, volumizes, defines, thicker consistency, stays put until you take it off, curved brush, doesn't flake
Cons: Can be a bit clumpy
Price: $6.99

L'oreal Extra Volume Collagen

Thoughts: Reminds me a lot of L'oreal Voluminous minus the curved brush and a little thinner formula.

Brush: Thick brush with medium length bristles
Pros: Lengthens, volumizes, separates and adds definition.
Cons: Smudges after a long wear
Price: $ 7.99

Maybelline the Colossal

Thoughts: I love bright colors, so when I saw bunch of black mascaras lined up and then bam a yellow one, I had to get it! Maybelline definitely attracted a lot of potential customers with the bright yellow packaging, at least they were good with marketing. I have used Maybelline products before and liked a few of them, so I thought I'd give this a try, unfortunately I don't have too many good things to say about it...

Brush: Pretty thick with long bristles
Pros: Attractive bright yellow packaging, thick formula, does separate ok, adds decent length
Cons: Weird smell, smudging, flaking, sticky, dries out fast, doesn't last long on lashes at all
Price: $6.99

Maybelline Lash Stilletto

Thoughts: Another let down by Maybelline. Lash Stilletto just like Colossal and didn't do much for me.

Brush: Long, thin with medium-length bristles
Pros: Non-smudging, thick formula
Cons: Not lengthening, volumizing OR defining, doesn't last long on lashes
Price:$ 8.99

Too Faced Lash Injection

Thoughts: I know there are a good number of people out there who adore this mascara but I am sorry I just can't agree with you. I used this mascara a long time ago, back when not too many people blogged, that's why you can't see the mascara in the pictures. Anyway I tossed it pretty fast because I didn't like it at all :/

Brush: Big brush with long bristles
Pros: Does make dark lashes even darker
Cons: Clumpy, smudging, flakes, too wet and takes too long to dry, smells bad, not too lengthening and on top of all this expensive for not doing much!
Price: $19.50

Who wins the battle? Covergirl Lashblast, hands down! I will continue loving this mascara until something better than this comes around...

Of course I will continue to experiment with other mascaras, I won't know if there is a better mascara than Lashblast unless I keep experimenting! What do I like to try next? Diorshow, Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash, YSL Faux Cils, I want to see if I will have any luck with any of these as well as to see if they really live up to all the hype.
