Packing Light!

Some of you may know that I will be traveling to my motherland Turkey tomorrow, I am ecstatic! There is no need to say that I have a slight addiction to make-up...Although I try my best every time I travel not to pack my entire collection, I fail miserably! This time I made a promise to myself, which I will keep, that I am packing light! I thought "what I'm packing" would be a fun post so here it is!

Since I will be staying with my family, I won't be taking bath & body products and all the little extras (Hey mom and sis, hope you stocked up haha :)) I am also not taking my flat iron as getting a beautiful blowout in Istanbul is super cheap, most people can afford to get their hair professionally done for $5, the hair stylists there are amazingly fast too! (and anyway I wash my hair twice a week)

Here is what I'm taking with moi...

Foundation - Revlon PhotoReady
Powder - MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural
Bronzer - Benefit Hoola
Highlighter - Dior Amber Diamond

Blush - Illamasqua Lover, NARS Lovejoy & Douceur
Concealer - MAC Studio Finish, elf Concealer & Highlighter Duo

Eye Shadows-
Pro Color x 4 Compact - Filled with; Print, Patina, Satin Taupe, Grain
MAC Beauties Play It Cool Palette (I am obsessed with purples what can I do?!)
UD Naked Palette - Only because it's much thinner than my favorite palette ever Too Faced Natural Eye
In a perfect world, I would take my most used MAC palette with me. However in my summer trip, I lost 2 eye shadows (Humid and Nylon) MAC palettes sadly don't seem to be too sturdy.

Primer/Base - UDPP, MAC Shadestick in Sharkskin
Mascara - Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash
Eyeliner - Shu Uemura Painting Liner & Milani Liquif'eye Pencils
Lipsticks - Maybelline Pink Please, Revlon Soft Nude, MAC Shy Girl & Angel
Lip balm - EOS

Brushes - I definitely need them!

Skin Care & Fragrance
Origins Checks and Balances Face Wash
Origins Perfect World Moisturizer
Givenchy Ange ou Démon Le Secret

So what do you think, am I crazy for taking too many products or am I crazy for not taking enough? :) Are you guys light-packers when it comes to make-up or do you take everything with you?

Itsy Bitsy & Banana Split

Happy Halloween everyone!

We didn't dress up for Halloween this year but still went ahead with the traditional pumpkin carving as we do every year. I LOVE to carve pumpkins, it's not easy work but it's so much fun!

Itsy Bitsy Spider

Muffin, unlike us, decided to dress up and be a Banana Split for Halloween. If I could find a Muffin outfit, I think he wouldn't say no to it! He he

Muffin vs. Spider

Did you guys dress up for Halloween, what were you??

Random Finds

Hey everyone!

I've been having writer's block these days...Actually I have so many ideas in my head that I want to blog about but all this excitement of my upcoming trip to Turkey is consuming all my energy which I don't have too much of since I'm fasting  :) Not to mention, I have zillions of things to do before my trip. Of course there are no obstacles when it comes to shopping ha! I just wanted to share with you guys my recent finds in random places :)

Ever since I first found out that Nicole Richie is getting in the jewelry business, I knew I would fall in love with her creations! I adore her style and sense of fashion, you can't deny that the girl knows her stuff! There are a few different pieces from her House of Harlow 1960 line that I've wanted since the beginning but of course I always chose to invest my money in MAC (let's not even go there!). I finally caved and purchased these beautiful earrings..

They come in several other colors such as red, green, black, purple and blue :)

I hit up Old Navy for some workout pants, I really love their yoga pants! They are so comfortable and reasonably priced. Right across from the pants were these adorable cardigans so I grabbed one though I wanted one in every color!

While at Target, I spotted this cute iPhone/iPod/digital camera pouch thingie which I thought would help me haul less stuff to the gym. I have this huge problem of toting way too many things around with me. My gym bag is huge, for that reason it's quite tempting to fill it up with unnecessary junk as there is only one reason of going to the gym and that is...to work out! I insist on taking a make-up bag full of cosmetics and much more! With this bag, I will definitely keep it simple. It's cute and small, compatible with iPhone (and I'm sure with anything that's the size of an iPhone or smaller) has a front pocket for ID, cards etc. Then on the side, there is another pocket that could be used for whatever. The brand is 'Golla', it's a Finnish brand and you can find out more about it on their website. The style I bought is called Riley - it's a 'smart bag'.

I also took advantage of the swim sale at Victoria's Secret's website. Don't I already have bathing suits? I do. But who wants to wear the same ones every year? I don't. So I found myself at VS's website. Needless to say, many of the super pretty bathing suits were sold out or they didn't have my size. I always loved polka dots but never bought a bathing suit with that pattern. I also reallllly adore bandeau tops, it's not because I am anti-tan lines I just think there is something glamorous about them. So why not combine both? :) I ordered a bunch more which I'm returning since I didn't like them too much, I'll stick with these! VS photography can be deceiving sometimes, who agrees?

I don't know about you but I am huge on candles. I especially love the ones that burn to a pleasant smell that one can smell a mile from the house. It's hard to find quality candles though. Recently I was at HomeGoods looking for a completely different product. Then I spotted this candle by a company called For Every Body, which I've never heard of before. First of all, let me say that this candle is AMAZING! This particular scent is so yummy! If you like the way a Streusel cake smells or cinnamony goods in general then you will love this candle! It smells just like the real thing, and once it's lit the house smells like you're baking a Streusel cake in the oven. I've always had a positive experience with soy-based candles, they all smell good, burn good, and last a long time! Another soy-based candle brand I love is Archipelago. If you have a candle by this company then you know what I'm talking about! They are freakin' pricey but if there is a day in your life you don't know what to do with an extra $30, I say go buy a candle from them. Especially the Verbena one, it smells out of this world good!

After all these products, you may be thinking 'but I thought this was your make-up bag', I know...I'm branching out a bit here as I haven't really been purchasing much beauty-related products lately. However, I did find a few beauty-related items that I love! Check them out :)

I first saw these eyebrow razors in this eyebrow video by DulceCandy87 . They seemed like a great idea, so I went ahead and placed an order on Amazon. These things are amazing!!! I tweeze both over and under my eyebrows. Under eye-brow area is much easier to clean up but I can't say the same for over. My hair that grows in this area is so stubborn and hard to pluck. These razors seem to do such a good job to remove the unwanted hair/fuzz in that area. I think they could be used pretty much anywhere on the face. Back of the packaging suggests that it could be used in neck and face in general as well. I know some people have unwanted sideburns that they remove using other methods. The razors are really gentle at removing hair. My eye area is one of the most sensitive spots on my face and I did not see a tiny bit of redness or rash using these! Thank you Dulce for sharing this great tool with the rest of us, I'm sure otherwise I would have never found out about them! :) Here is the Amazon seller I purchase these from, there are a few others who sell them as well.

Another product I discovered recently is this body lotion by Johnson & Johnson! Last time I used Johnson and Johnson products was probably 24-25 years ago when I was a baby. I honestly never had a body lotion that I was totally in love with which I would purchase for the rest of my life. Then I was introduced to this lotion by a friend whose friend swore by it. It supposedly has lavender and chamomile in it so you'd think it smells like it. I don't know if I agree, I mean it smells really good but I don't really smell lavender. I am not even really fond of lavender smell so I probably wouldn't love this so much if it did smell like it. I don't know how to describe this scent, if you see it at a drugstore, smell it and you'll know! :) Why do I think it's a great product? Well, besides the smell, the texture is just incredible! It has a thicker consistency, definitely not runny like Victoria's Secret lotions but not so thick as a body butter. It has a whipped feel to it. I love how it leaves my skin soft and smooth and not greasy and sticky like some other lotions. I also love the fact that the scent and hydration stay with me for a good while :)

Today was Muffin's 1st birthday! We got him when he was 2 months old, it's unbelievable how fast time flies!

Go Muffin it's your birthdayyyy!!!

Have a great week everyone! Monday is over, 4 more days until the weekend! :)

Blogsmaid

Hey girls!

Okay so I've been a slacker blogger AGAIN. But this time I have a good excuse. One of my good friends is tying the knot this Saturday which is tomorrow!! So what does that have to do with me being an unproductive blogger? Well because I am actually in the wedding, yeah I'm a bridesmaid! :) It's my first time being a bridesmaid and I am stoked! For that reason I've been super busy this past week! I thought it'd be fun to do a non-make-up post and show you guys what I'll be wearing etc...It is a black tie wedding, in other words nothing that could also be worn to the beach lol

Here is our dress...I found these images through Google as it's difficult to take a picture of my actual dress and capture it's true beauty (I'm not a clothing photographer at heart, at all!) This dress is by Bill Levkoff and comes in a variety of different colors and sashes as well. We opted for black because it's a 'safe' color and will look beautiful with our maize/buttercup colored bouquets!

My shoes...we're wearing different shoes as to not look like quadruplets haha! Initially I was planning to buy a new pair of occasion shoes but then I remembered about this pair which I have worn to another friend's wedding and danced the night away in them without feeling a slight discomfort! So I thought, now that I am a bridesmaid and I will be on my poor feet the entire day, I need pretty and comfy shoes and they are just it! :)

Shoot, actually our earrings are the same too! These were gifted to us by our lovely bride-to-be friend, spasibo Julia! :) If you'd like a pair yourself check them out here.

My necklace...I think it speaks for itself. LOVE IT!!!

My clutch.. I was debating whether I should take a clutch with me or not since we'll be running around a lot and it'd be such a hassle to carry it. But then I thought, what if I have to twitpic and report live from the wedding and I'll also need a lipstick or 10 yeah I needed a clutch for sure! This is the 'bean clutch' by Jalda and can be found in various different stores and online retailers. I do have a satin type of clutch which would go well with my outfit however I don't want to look that serious. I thought this would be a fun addition to my outfit since it's more sophisticated and a bit sporty.

My hair will look something along these lines...Here's the gorgeous Kristin Cavallari via Google images, I love her hair! I will take this picture with me so the hair stylist knows exactly what I want. I think I may eventually go for this color too, I know I'm such an unoriginal copycat! :p

And the most important of all, the make-up...Can you believe I have no idea how my make-up will be? We're actually getting it done and the only detail I know about it is that it will be 'bridal-y' with a twist. What does that mean I have no clue! I just hope that it's not some boring neutral eye that will make me look like I died 10 days ago. I definitely will take my own lipsticks with me for retouching through the day/evening. I'm taking MAC's Jazzed for a hint of color as I'll be in black from head to toe lol If in the case that eyes are darker, I will have my Angel lipstick ready as well. I'm leaning more towards Jazzed though, it's just gorgeous and looks beautiful with a tan :) I'm planning to paint my nails and toes a coral nail polish such as Essie's Peach Daiquiri or Revlon's Tropical Temptation.

We're staying at a hotel close to the venue/hall otherwise we would all have to wake up at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning, and who wants to do that? Not me! I'll definitely blog about the wedding when I get back! I hope everyone has an awesome and fun weekend! XOXO
