How Much Is Your Face Worth?

I have just seen this tag on some beauty blogs and thought it was a great way to have the much-needed reality check! Needless to say, as make-up addicts, we spend a ridicilous amount of money on beauty products. I realize some of it is actual necessity, for instance, if you use a mascara daily you will need a new tube within couple months tops. But majority of the rest is really for "collection" purposes. I know exactly how it goes, there is just something gorgeous about beautifully arranged, color coordinated blushes and eye shadows and of course we cannot forget lipsticks...! Just the thought of my make-up collection and all those stunning shades make me want to go splurge right now!

Though I know approximately how much each of my daily products retail for, I have never actually sat down and calculated. Here is the moment of truth...

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation $6.50
I'm currently using Fit Me as it's warmer and thankfully my skin has been amazing lately that I don't even need a full coverage foundation. I save some $ in the foundation department, yay!

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural $27
I do like to set my foundation regardless of its coverage, MAC MSFN does a great job for me!

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer $28
I go back and forth between Chocolate Soleil and Hoola so I actually use them both and will hopefully hit pan on Hoola soon! They are both $28 and I just cannot set a foot out the door without bronzer on.

Dior Amber Diamond $44
So maybe I didn't really need a $44 Dior highlighter but it's sooo gorgeous! I do use it everyday, a little more for night makeup, I still think it was a good investment :)

Benefit Bella Bamba Blush $28
Bella Bamba is one of the blushes I'm using the most at the moment, actually I've used it everyday the past week. I do rotate between Bella Bamba, MAC, NARS, Illamasqua blushes. Price-wise MAC blushes would be the cheapest but I've been using them the least.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer $16.50
Though I don't totally always need it, from time to time I still like to dab a little concealer on acne scars etc.

Urban Decay Primer Potion $19
Needless to say, it's a must-have. I don't know many make-up people who can live without some kind of an eye-shadow base.

Covergirl Lashblast Mascara $8
I'm also saving a couple bucks in the mascara department. I'm very happy with Lashblast, don't really need to spend $20+ on a mascara for the same results.

Shu Uemura Painting Liner $25
$25 is a bit too pricey for a gel liner but I'm very happy with its lasting power and I'd totally repurchase it.

MAC Lipstick $14.50
I don't use a MAC lipstick everyday but majority of the time they are what I reach for.
For the quality you get, $14.50 isn't that bad in my opinion. Even some drugstore lipsticks these days can cost $10+!

MAC Eyeshadows x 3 $33
I do use MAC eyeshadows almost everyday, 3 to be exact. 1. an all over color 2. crease color 3. blending color. I save a few dollars by buying them in pans, they have amazing quality and I don't really feel bad paying $11 for each.

Total = $249.50 *GASP*

Perhaps, it's the perfect time to start P10P? :)

Do you know how much YOUR face is worth? :)

  3. Haha this is a fun tag. At least you know it will last you a while so it's not so bad?

  4. I love these posts! It really does put some perspective as to how much we spend on our beauty products >.< I mostly use drugstore things though and about 90% of my makeup is discounted because I wait for sales or I use coupons :) But the products last for months if not years so the money should actually be divided by X number of days ^^ That'll probably make us feel better haha

  5. Mine is possibly.. more than that D: Which is why I am avoiding thinking about it haha. I might do this post tomorrow/sometime soon though, just to guilt myself into not buying any more make up!

I think this tag is brilliant! I've been interested in it for awhile and I need to remember to put one up this week!
And I'm going to have to agree with 25FLONDON, mine might be more than that as well ... eep!

  7. mine is $89, because i use a lot of drugstore products. what's really expensive, though, is the things i buy then don't use :/

  8. Yup it definitely seems like a lot, but I like to think of it broken down into how long each product will last. Lets say you get a year of use out of each product minus the mascara and lipstick and maybe liner then it's really like less than a $1 a day lol. That's how I like to justify my purchases anyway haha.

  10. What I use daily is $105 (lower-end favorites) to $255 (with high-end favorites), but I blow way more money on my collection that I will never, ever use up! I really should start a blog because I'm sure I spend a few grand a year on makeup (fun toys!!!)

  15. It took me a while to get over the grand total, it's just such a vicious cycle, this makeup obsession!

  16. Actually you're right, if you look at it like that then it's not too bad! And also, I didn't just splurge $250 at once yay I already feel better about this :)

  17. You're right, I'll probably be still using most of these products until this time next year so it's not that bad :) When it comes to drugstore products, I usually use coupons or wait for sales as well. It's kind of hard when you walk into Walgreens and see all those 50% off, BOGO signs though, that makes you want to buy everything lol

  18. Oh I am sure there are many people whose are twice as much, depends on what kind of products you use :) But I dare you to do it sometime, I wanna see!!! :)

  19. I cannot wait to find out about you girls' posts! I think it's a cool tag, do it do it do it! :)

  20. Wow that sounds so reasonable, good for you! I totally know what you mean, I hate when products go to waste. Believe me this number opened my eyes, I will try to use up some products before buying a similar product in the same category, it's just too ridicilous to throw anything away!

    ReplyDelete
  21. *sigh of relief* that is quite the justification! That made me feel better :)

  22. You did??? Omg I've been so MIA from everywhere, I didn't even know! Good job lady, so proud of you! Hopefully I'll be able to start one of these days, I could use p10p's help!

  23. Same here, I think I'm doing a bit better though. I don't just buy products because of LE packaging or even colors. I mean really, do I need another peach blush? No. lol Yay do start a blog, I wanna see your collection!!! :)

  24. I know right? Imagine, this is only the products I use daily. Apart from our daily products, who knows the exact grand total of everything added up in our collections. It's scary to even think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh I can't blame you, it took me a while to find the courage to post this lol

    ReplyDelete
  26. It is an eye-opener let me tell you! But don't be scared, it's the reality. I mean whether we add it up or not, we know approximately how much we spend on this obsession!

  27. Hi Cecilia, thanks so much for your comment! Glad you like my blog :) It is worth it because we love makeup, I feel bad for the products that I spent money on which do not get too much love though :/
