Benefit Erase Paste (No 2 Medium)
This is my oldest concealer which I thought was awesome until I discovered MAC's Studio Fix Concealer which I will get to in a second. I used to use Erase Paste for pretty much everything from brightening up my under eye area to cover up blemishes to my nose area. However after a while, I began seeing it settle in the fine lines I have on under my eyes even after setting with powder, which didn't look too pretty. I then started using it on blemishes but it wasn't such a great color match. There are only 3 shades of the Erase Paste and this was the closest to my skin color. I use Erase Paste down the sides of my nose because of all the 3 I have, it does the best job concealing there. I have realized MAC Studio Finish concealer makes my pores near my nose appear larger so I resort to Erase Paste which only conceals :)
e.l.f. Studio Under Eye Concealer & Highlighter (Glow/Light)
I bought this elf concealer on a whim at Target before having tried any elf product, ever! Pretty bold purchase from a brand you've never used before huh? The fact that it was more liquid than I thought it would be kind of scared me in the beginning. Later I realized I just needed two little dots to have full coverage, so little goes a loooooong way! Don't be fooled by it's $3 price tag because it's just as amazing as high-end concealers if not better! In this case,we can apply the 'it's not the quantity, it's the quality' theory! It is perfect for my under eye concealing needs though I don't have that much to conceal. It really smooths out the fine lines without settling in them and creates such a flawless look. The concealer side alone does a good job brightening this area. However I also like to dab a bit of the highlighter side for optimum results. I did pick this concealer up in a shade lighter (Glow/Light) than my skin tone to achieve an obviously lighter look under my eyes. Therefore I can't really use it on other areas on my face because it would be just too light.
MAC Studio Finish Concealer (NW 30)
MAC has done it again! I'm sure I'm one of the last people to use this concealer and I can't believe I have not tried it sooner. While at my local MAC one day, I had a make-up artist apply some on my face just to see what it's all about. She applied it right under my eyes and it was all good but after coming home I saw my under eye lines looking worse than they did before having this concealer applied. It has unfortunately creased! I knew it just wasn't going to work in this area. So now I use it on my skin discolorations, pimples and anything I want to conceal on the rest of my face. If the zit isn't a huge one, this concealer will make it almost invisible. If it's a huge one above the surface, obviously there is nothing that can be done about that, good luck to me! As I have mentioned above, it also does make my pores on the sides of my nose appear larger than they are, so it's a no-no for sides of my nose!
Hard to believe I'm using all these different shades of concealers! |
For Erase Paste and MAC concealers I use my little elf brush you can see in the top photo. For elf concealer I just use my ring finger to blend it in.
I'm happy with all of my concealers! They all seem to do a fantastic job in their own little ways. I have yet to find a concealer that combines all three of them and does everything, does it even exist? I did try the Amazing concealer to see if it lived up to all the hype, and for me it didn't!
Do you use a concealer? If so, what's your favorite one?
I've just got a bit concealer obsessed as well! I'm currently loving the ELF Studio one in light and glow and also the Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit in Cool Sand (it comes with a pale yellow powder underneath as well which is fab!) xx
ReplyDeleteFor under my eyes I use Mac´s Moistercover Concealer. The best for me.
ReplyDeletei use a concealer of Kiko, and it's similar to mac's. It works very well!
ReplyDeleteI actually got my first Studio Finish Concealer yesterday!! I kept hearing how great it is, so excited to try it ouuutt :D the guy who tried it on me used a blending brush instead of a flat concealer one... what do you use??
ReplyDeleteI have all three of those concealers in their lightest incarnations and love them all, but sometimes when my dark circles aren't too bad I just make do with my foundation.

I have really been wanting to try that elf one since you first talked about it; sounds wonderful! I used to use erase paste too, and I LOVE the color because it's the perfect peach shade for brightening the under-eye, but it creased on me pretty bad. Too sad! I used to use studio finish too but haven't for a while, but it is a great concealer! The one I love the most is Estee Lauder Double Wear concealer...it works for every area of my face and STAYS PUT. Plus, it actually does cover monster zits!
ReplyDeleteLove this post, I think I might go buy the elf one today or tomorrow :) xoxoxoxox
Thanks for the review on these :] I may need to start using it!
ReplyDeleteI am concealer obsessed as well, the benefit erase paste is pretty good, I like the colour of it. The NYX concealer in a jar are good too. But my most favourite right now is the Revlon age defying moisturizing cream, the best concealer I have found in a long time.
ReplyDeleteNice post! :D I have used them all except for the Erase Paste, which I am still curious to see for myself. The ELF concealer is great! Have you ever tried Maybelline's mineral concealer? It is in a lip gloss-like tube and I've reviewed it on my blog. It's like Elf's but much denser. I love the MAC one as well :D It's thick and concealer-y :D
ReplyDeleteI own all 3 concealers and probably a few more, i'm a tad bit obsessed. Elf does a decent job, mac's SF creases on me too, i use a finishing powder and sometimes doesn't crease, erase paste creases on me...i just got diors lifting concealer and amazing cosmetics, no real opinion yet...i'll get back to you!
ReplyDeletebtw - my baby rocky is so much better with potty training, holds it for 10 hours outside his cage! now i need him to stop jumping on people and chewing EVERYTHING in sight, he's 8.5 mo old...he's no longer teething, i'm at a loss...so at this point he goes into timeout for 5 min every time i catch him grabbing something to chew and every time he begs for human food, lol. i'm a mean mom, LOL
justme mentioned mac's moisturecover, that's a great concealer too, it works best when i use a blending brush to apply it (in fact all concealers crease less when i use a blending brush)
ReplyDeleteYes, those paste type concealers need careful application, they can crease if you use a little too much and it's easy to do that..
ReplyDeleteVery intrigued by the ELF one, I gotta admit! ;)
Btw, you could try MAC select cover-up for your undereye area, I think you 'd like that (unless you've tried it already)!
xoxo
@ Emily elf concealer is pretty amazing imo, I hear great things about Bobbi Brown concealers and well everything. Yet to try it though, hopefully soon! :)
ReplyDelete@ JustMe, I also hear very good things about Moisture Cover AND Select Cover Up, am I missing out?? :)
@ Maria, I heard of Kiko thanks to YouTube, never tried anything from them though!
@ Feline,Yay! I have (and heard a few others as well) experienced that it does crease under eyes but works great on discoloration, pimples etc. I just use my elf concealer brush, I doubt it'll avoid from creasing if applies with a blending brush, or will it? May worth a try! :) Hope you like it though!
@ Kat O ohh cool! On some days I'm the same way and am just fine with foundation on others I use all 3, depends on how we look that day I guess! :)
@ellamarie84, I think Erase Paste creases more than Studio Finish because of it's consistency, wish they had more shades of it, 3 is certainly like a joke! Hearing a lot about Estee Lauder lately, from foundation to concealers. I've never tried either one, I'll definitely add it to my 'to check out list' :) Thanks lovey!
@Sisi you're very welcome, glad you enjoyed!
@Justine @ Productrater I love Revlon products and I'm sure I'd love that concealer as well, I just wish we could test them before purchasing, that'd be great!
@Rainy Days and Lattes thank you! I checked out the Maybelline concealer on your blog and looks like I may be interested in it since I love the elf one a lot! :)
@Janine, Ooooh Dior! Looking forward to your opinion about that for sure! Do a review on it pretty please? :) Can't believe Rocky is 8.5 months, I feel like you got him just the other day! Awww he's a big boy now! :) You're not a mean mom, you're just a great pack leader; exactly how you're supposed to be! I think I should have toughened up a bit more now that I think about it! It's just so hard when they look at you with their cute faces! lol How did I not know about the blending brush trick?? I will definitely give it a try, who knows maybe I don't need another concealer but just a new technique?! Thanks lady! :) xo
@Tina, ah I love the elf for my eye area but always open to new products (of course!) I think MAC select cover up is the most talked about for the eye area huh? I can't believe I haven't tried it already, it's just that these concealers are lasting me a very long time! lol Thanks for your comment girlie! xo
this out of all my concealers has been my HG. It creases the least of all my others- with excellent coverage! i used to have to use blot powder to set it but my skin is drier (i guess) now or i've controlled a bit of the oil and i can use regular setting powder. have you used a lighter foundation for concealer?
