I've run out of the amazing St. Ives Green Tea Scrub and was in the mood to try a new product. I was strolling through the beauty aisles of Target and this scrub caught my eye. Few people have suggested this after my post on St. Ives Green Tea Scrub so I thought now is the perfect time to give it a try!
This is my first time trying L'oreal skincare and I can't say that I'm impressed. I initially thought this was a good product actually. I liked the packaging. The 'scrublet' definitely catches attention. Even if you later decide not to buy the product, it is definitely a factor why many people pick this off the shelf to check it out. I was personally not that fond of it though. You have to put it between to fingers to use it and it was just hard to do so when your hands are wet, it is floppy. Of course I could have dried them first but to me that's just not convenient. I also prefer to use nothing but my fingers for facial product application because naturally I want this process to be as gentle as possible and the microbeads are harsh as it is. I also think using the scrublet, one may feel the need to literally scrub because you don't know if it's really working. On a better note, it has a really nice and summery apricot scent to it and I really enjoyed that. It left my skin feeling soft and moisturized (at first). It does give you a squeaky clean and refreshing feeling which I also liked. It currently retails for $5.99 at Target.
I had been using this scrub for over a week and have not experienced any flaking or additional dryness whatsoever. This was until two days ago. I think 7+ days are good enough to know whether a product works for you or not.I have kept all my other facial skin care products the same so I knew for a fact this scrub is what's causing this problem on my face. I have normal/combination skin so an oilier T-zone. Where do I get the flakes? On my T-zone! My forehead flaked the most, then my chin, my nose was the least flaked but it was still visible. Ugh where is my moisturizer?!
This is a bit cleaned up version, I didn't want to gross anybody out by showing the whole flakage! :)
It's nothing to freak out about as it will go away, I'm just kind of bummed because I wanted to like this product. I guess I'll just go back to St. Ives Green Tea or Burt's Bees Peach scrub, they are both very good!
What about you guys? Have you tried this scrub, what did you think of it?
I've never tried this before but St. Ives used to be my holy grail scrub but it dried me out so much even if i used it 3 times a week :/ so i had to give it up :/
ReplyDeletenice review though!
Thanks for the warning, I was thinking of picking this up but I won't risk it now. My face doesn't like change lol I do best to stick with what works when it comes to cleansers.
ReplyDeleteAhhh stick to what you know, I get really flaky when I start using clearasil or something - totally dries out my skin, gecmis olsun hemen gecer, like you said it's not that bad, great review! X
ReplyDeleteinteresting, I always wonder about this product, my ex roommate used it all the times, she had really oily skin though and seemed to work well for her... ha ha ha, i'm sticking to my own regiment. Nice review, very informative
ReplyDeleteGood review!:D For some reason, I don't feel like trying this line.

I haven't tried this. I tend to steal clear of things with scrubbies like this. I can't believe it made you flaky! weird. I am using the green tea scrub and I like it...enough. I just bought is two days ago so don't really know yet.
ReplyDelete@ Becky, it's crazy what works for one person can make another flaky! I love the St. Ives one though, it's perfect for my skin. I'm sorry it dried out your skin. What are you using now??
ReplyDelete@ Ann, no problem! We don't need any more flaky beauty bloggers! lol I usually stick to what works for me also but then again I figured those products work for me because I tried :) I learned my lesson though!
@ Muhsine, thanks love! I know I know, it's my fault! It's already gone :)
@ SOPHIE WEARS, I guess it works good on oily skin, no wonder she liked it! This is definitely not made for normal or dry skinned girls :)
@ Marie, thanks hun! I hope it justified you not feeling this line once more :)
@ veflexra, I know it's crazy, isn't? I think this is the first time a scrub made me flake like this! I hope you like the green tea scrub, it's one of my favorite scrubs ever! :)
havent try this and thanks for the review!I'm not now going too!hope your skin will soon be back to the normal condition!cause you are gorgeous!:)
ReplyDeleteI've never tried this but wanted to...maybe the sensitive skin version would be a good one? I heard a few good reviews on that. I want to try the st. ives green tea one you talked about now! Great review :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the exfoliating version, but I LOVE the cream face wash one. It's a cream so it actually moisturizes and I found I didn't even need to exfoliate when I wash my face with it daily.
ReplyDelete@ Blushingloves, Your welcome lady! Thanks for your sweet comment :) Ahh it's already back to normal now that I am not using this scrub anymore :)
ReplyDelete@ ellamarie84, thanks hun :) Yeah you may be right, perhaps I could have picked up one for sensitive skin. Funny thing is I never have to buy products for sensitive skin as my skin handles products pretty well. I don't know why it didn't like this scrub! :) Oh the green tea scrub = LOVE! I hope it works for you :)
@ Jackie, So that makes the two of us! :) The reason why I got the scrub is because I needed a scrub. I already have a facewash that I love dearly. Does the cream version have the beads in it as well? I should check it out, who knows maybe that's what I need! :) Thanks for letting me know!
Oh no! I hate it when that happens because flaky skin is hard to cover up with make-up! Maybe you should just use it once a week or something.
