MAC & Lush Haul

Today I have been to MAC and LUSH like the title says (they are seriously right across the street from each other, so if you go to one it's nearly impossible to not go to the other!) I have actually been planning this visit for a while and just found the chance to go today! Like most of us I have an unnecessarily long wish-list of products (mine are mostly MAC eye-shadows he he what are yours??) so I thought it was about time to cross off a few of those items, here is what I got...

From MAC:

Antiqued (Veluxe Pearl) Ash brown with bronze
Era (Satin) Soft golden beige with shimmer
Goldmine (Frost) Intense gold with shimmer

...and I also got another pro color palette!

From LUSH:

Flosty Gritter Bubble Bar ~ Smells like bubblegum, has glitters all over it and it's pink, so girly!
Magic Mushroom Bubble Bar ~ Vanillary in white parts, Yummy Yummy Yummy in red cap, or in plain English vanilla+strawberry scented
The Ex Factor Bath Bomb ~ Vanilla musk scent, he is too cute to use up!
Godmother ~ Smells sort of like Snow Fairy, but better in my opinion...smells like candy/gummy bear/juicyfruit/berry-ish

Also, the lovely ladies at my local Lush threw in a couple samples for me and they are: Yummy Yummy Yummy Shower Gel and American Cream Conditioner.

What are your favorite Lush products, any suggestions for my next visit? :)

You thought I was only obsessed with make-up? You were wrong!

Here are my all-time favorite perfumes, I simply can't live without these. I don't ever have one perfume at a time, simply because I don't want to smell the same everyday, just like I don't wear the same lipstick everyday (sorry Angel, you know i love ya!) Some people do, but it's just not me.

Viva La Juicy ~ Juicy Couture
Burberry Brit ~ Burberry
Light Blue ~ Dolce & Gabbana
Euphoria ~ Calvin Klein
Narciso Rodriguez ~ For Her
The One ~ Dolce & Gabbana
J'adore ~ Dior
Armani Code ~ Giorgio Armani
DKNY Be Delicious ~ Donna Karan
Mademoiselle ~ Coco Chanel

What are your favorites? I am always open to test different perfumes, who knows maybe I will add another one to my collection!

10 lip products my make-up world would be incomplete without!

1. MAC lipstick - Angel

Angel is my one of my go-to lipsticks. I have to be honest I didn't just discover this color when I was at a MAC counter. I actually found out about it when I was watching one of Kim K's make-up videos. It looked great on her (well what doesn't?? she's gorgeous!) so I thought I'd give it a try. Ever since that day I have been lovin' this frosty soft pink lipstick!

2. NARS lipstick - Roman Holiday

I love this color for summer! It's a cool toned, pale Barbie pink. It's pretty sheer if you only apply one layer, so I apply at least 3 layers to get the color I want. It looks great with smokey eye, and has a 80's feel to it.

3. NYX lipstick - Tea Rose

Pinkish Coral color ~ perfect for those days when I don't want my lips to look bubblegum-y or simply when I want a change.

4. MAC lipglass - Underage

Very girly sheer lipgloss, it's wearable with many lipsticks but I usually prefer to wear it alone especially if I have too much going on on my eyes...

5. MAC lipstick - Blankety

Perfect nude with just the right amount of pink in it!

6. MAC lipstick - Impassioned

Love to rock this during summer nights, looks awesome on tanned skin and with neutral eyes.

7. NYX lipstick - Narcissus

Perfect bubblegum color, that's all I have to say!

8. NYX lipgloss - La La

Shimmery, sparkly, pink lip gloss that I like to wear by itself...most of the time!

9. MAC slimshine lipstick - Bare

Unfortunately being discontinued, I am so sad to see this go! (I hope I'm just having a nightmare about it being discontinued) I especially love Bare because it pretty much completes any look, if I don't know what to wear on my lips, Bare is one of the two lipsticks I will go to, the other one being Angel of course.

10. Burt's Bees Beeswax Lipbalm

Wear this daily...it's a must for bloody Chicago winters, definitely recommend it to anyone who needs to moisturize their chapped lips! Love the soothing mint flavor and scent. I especially prefer Burt's Bees because of their human-friendly ingredients!

FOTD: Antique Eyes + Impassioned Lips

Today I wanted to do a gold/brown look and use one of my favorite lipsticks from MAC which is Impassioned. This is actually one of my few favorite non-pink/nude lipsticks from MAC. I don't normally wear vibrant colors on my lips, in fact I haven't used this color since last summer. I think colors like Impassioned look great during summertime with tanned skin. I was just going through my lipstick collection and bumped into it and realized how much I missed it he he Summer hurry up and get your butt over here already!

So, what am I wearing today?

Face:
Revlon Photo Ready Foundation, MSF, Physician's Formula Solar Powder Bronzer, Revlon Matte Powder Blush in Perfectly Peach, Sephora blush me twice No.1 to contour

* I also made the stupid mistake of using MUFE's finishing powder, which made me look like a ghost or as if I have seen one, reminded me a lot of those bad pictures of Nicole Kidman with her finishing powder all over her face...

Eyes:
Anastasia clear brow gel
UDPP all over lids
Bare Minerals multi-tasking  Minerals in Summer Bisque under eyes - for "popping" purposes
MAC Retrospeck e/s on inner corner, MAC Cocomotion pigment across lid, MAC Brown Down e/s on crease
MAC Carbon e/s as liner on upper/lower lash-line
Avon eye-pencil in Vanilla in waterline
Any black eyeliner to lightly go over Carbon e/s (I used my Ulta brand eyeliner)
CG Lash blast mascara

Lips:
MAC Impassioned lipstick ~ MAC claims this is an "amped-up" fuchsia and I don't agree, to me it looks like a reddish-pink!

NYX $1 Galore!!!!

Was I the last one to find out about the $1 sale on NYX's website?? Apparently yes. They've been having this $1 sale event since January 15 (lasts through January 25, not sure about time) and I just found out about it last night, bummer! I coincidentally went to nyxcosmetics.com because I have been looking for the jumbo pencil in Milk for a long time now (all my local Ultas are sold out!) and I see this huge sale! If any of you plan to order anything from this event, keep in mind their shipping is pretty ridiculous. While almost everything I ordered was only a $1, I had to pay about $10 for shipping and I think my total came to $22, which is not bad considering I bought 9 items + jumbo pencil which was regular price ($3.50 I think?) I'm a sucker for NYX round lipsticks and mega shine lipglosses, hopefully the colors I picked out will work with me, can't wait to receive my order so I can do new looks using my new stuff :)

Product Rave: Revlon Photo Ready Makeup

Hey girls!

It's love at first sight....well, let's say first use! I would have never thought Revlon would one day beat all the other high-end foundations, but it did and it did big time! I absolutely love this foundation even though I have only used it once. I took pictures of myself in different lighting and my skin looks picture perfect no matter how the lighting is. I got it in Medium Beige and it's perfect for my skin. My skin looks so velvety and soft, almost air-brushed in pictures and even in the mirror. I will give it a full week to really see how it will hold up compared to my MAC Studio Fix Fluid. I like my MAC foundation, it gives pretty good coverage, the shade works very well with my skin color BUT my problem with it is that it makes my pores look even bigger after I apply it on my skin. I am noticing with Revlon PR, I seriously cannot see my pores. It's not a pretty sight to see huge pores in pictures, as we all know. I just hope that I will be thinking the same until next Sunday. I applied this to my face pretty late on Saturday evening so naturally I have no clue how it will wear throughout the day. But for now, I love it!

Oh LUSH how I love you so!

The first time I ever went to Lush was 6-7 years ago in Vancouver B.C. I probably wouldn't have if I didn't see 5 million people showering this place, ok maybe not 5 million but a lot of people! I thought, hey it must be something that these people wanna see! Turns out it was bunch of tables that had bunch of soap pyramids on them lol until I started seeing what these soaps looked like let alone how they smelled! I was amazed by all this smell in the air and certainly looking at these cute soaps that looked more like cookies of some sort, I wanted to eat them all! Don't you? To this day whenever I go to Lush, the thought of eating a soap because it looks edible still crosses my mind, then I remind myself they are soaps. Lately I am seeing many girls AND guys too now doing reviews and raving about their favorite Lush products, so I thought my time to rave has come!

All time favorite Lush products:

Ma Bar Bubble Bar

O.M.G! If you love chocolate, you will die for this, what a way to die! They must have had me in their mind while they were creating this piece of heaven! I call this toffee heath-bar mocha with a pump of white chocolate, it's yummy! It smells beyond this world good, the bubbles are just uh-amazing, they seriously last forever, you will wait for them to slowly disappear like most other bath bubbles and while you're waiting you will fall asleep in the tub believe me! I don't even know what to say about the way it looks, it definitely screams "EAT ME RIGHT NOW" You can easily get 3 uses out of this, then run to your closest Lush store ASAP because I'm telling ya, you should never be without this bubble bar, if you haven't tried this already, you better go pick some up soon, you're missing out honeys!

The Comforter Bubble Bar

I am having another OMG moment, and this bubble bar definitely deserves it! Obviously anyone who knows me would know exactly why I ever bought this bubble bar, umm because it's PINK and it's swirly, but let's lean towards the fact that it's pink, yeeaaahhh! They say don't judge a book by its cover, well in this case, do judge a book by its cover, I did and I couldn't be merrier than I am that I found this square of pinkness! I had no idea when I was buying this product how well it will do once I break it and put it in my bathtub, like I said I got it simply because it's pink oh and it smells delicious. To my surprise it exceeded my expectations even though I had none! Lush advises us to break it half and use it for 2 baths, I say break it in hundred pieces and use it that many times because to me half was just too much. Love bathing in pink water!
Demon in the Dark - handmade soap

This is my go-to soap when I'm feeling under the weather. A few minutes spent with this soap in the shower definitely makes me feel better and cleaner too. If you're not a fan of (spear)mint scent, then this soap is not for you. I AM a fan of anything minty so I'm lovin' this soap! I heard some people say bad things about this soap like the fact that it smells "manly". I don't get how men and mint have in common, hello people, don't you chew spearmint gum?? Another thing I wanna point out is that Lush claims this soap makes green bubbles, and no it doesn't I'm sorry Lush. It lathers up nicely though, I'll give you that, just no green bubbles.

Alkmaar - handmade soap

I use this soap when I want something extra in my shower session, like something luxurious. This soap makes me feel like a queen for some reason, it must be the jasmine in it perhaps? I love how it lathers and leaves my skin baby-soft. I also think that this soap could be used in multiple ways because it's very milky and gentle. Consider using it as a hand soap or even a face soap. Love it when I can pay for one thing and use it 3 ways, yay!

Products I bought in 2009 and didn't like...

Origins No Offense Alcohol-free Deodorant

I was in search of a paraben and aluminum-free deodorant simply because I want to use a product that contains less harmful chemicals, especially in my underarms. Now, I do not know if usage of paraben and aluminum containing deodorants or antiperspirants is even a leading cause or even a cause of breast cancer, some say it is some say it has nothing to do with it. I am so lost, I don't know who to believe, so I decided that I will use something without these to be on the safe side. When I found out about No Offense, I was very happy. I read mostly positive reviews about it on Origins' website, so I decided to give it a try. It has a very clean and a light scent, which was a plus. The first day I used it, I noticed when applying to dry underarms that it doesn't apply well, I almost felt like I was supposed to wet the deodorant a bit so it goes on smooth. First day I applied without wetting it and in a few hours I felt like I was smelling (GROSS!) Now, I am a person that doesn't really sweat or smell sweaty, at all! But when I was using this product, it was making me sweat...I have no clue why! Second day I wet it and applied it again, this time the smell was even worse. I gave it a week, applied it a few times during the day. I'm sorry to say it just doesn't work for me. These are $12 a stick, ouch, could have gotten a MAC eyeshadow for 2 more dollars...but I guess you don't know if something works unless you give it a try!

Burt's Bees Super Shiny Grapefruit & Sugar Beet Shampoo & Conditioner

While I like certain products from Burt's Bees, their shampoo and conditioner were let downs for my naturally curly, thick hair. I only really wash my hair every 4 days because I have coarse hair that holds oil pretty well. Most people won't believe me when I tell them I am walking around with hair that was washed 4 days ago, because it doesn't look greasy at all. When it comes to styling my hair, because I am a sucker for straight hair I flat iron it every time I wash it, I guess it's safe to say my hair has a bit of heat damage though I use heat protection products. Obviously heat leaves my hair drier than it should be so naturally I need a shampoo and conditioner that provide additional moisture for it. One of the main reasons why I decided to go with Burt's Bees was because these two particular products contain no parabens and are about 99% natural. I gave these products about 3-4 washes, and came to the conclusion that every time I used them my hair was left tangled, very hard to manage, was very hard to comb and overall I felt like they stripped off natural oils from my hair. I also didn't like the scent of these at all, even though I think shampoo smells a bit better than the conditioner. Condition is a total mess when it comes to its smell, it reminds me of an expired cosmetic, it stinks, really! I really wanted to like these, and I really don't. Hopefully I can make a good use out of them by using them for shaving purposes (which I really do, I think it's non-sense to buy shaving products when you can use hair conditioner and even some shampoos which like the name states conditions hair and I think they are great to use for shaving!) I will also more than likely end up using them on my puppy Muffin, maybe they will show better results in dog fur :)

Juice Beauty Green Apple Moisturizer SPF 15

Right before I started using this moisturizer, I got a sample of Hope in a Jar by Philosophy from Sephora. When I used this for over a month (a little goes a long way actually) and ran out, for some reason I wasn't convinced to buy a 2 oz. container for $35. Then I was introduced to Juice Beauty by a friend who is very into using organic products. So I got a sample of this and gave it a try while still using the same toner, face-wash etc. First few days passed with no problems, then I started breaking out a bit but I thought it may be because I just started using it. Then I started breaking out even more and I stopped using it. When I stopped my face cleared and now my skin is clear like it usually is. I don't know what it is, maybe it's because I am just so used to using products with so many chemicals in them that when I use something organic my skin reacts this way. This would have been the perfect moisturizer otherwise, smells great, provides SPF15 and a little jar lasted me a very long time!

Bath & Body Works Foaming Body Wash

I have never been disappointed with anything I ever bought from Bath and Body Works, until I bought this. Recently BBW had their semi-annual sale where they had many body washes on sale for $3 which is C-H-E-A-P! It was a coincidence that I ran out body washes right at that time, so I ran over to the store and thought I would stock up on some body washes. I got 2 of these and started using one about a week ago. I had to pump about 3 times on to my loofah for it to lather up, and it still wouldn't as well as their regular body washes. Also, after I stepped out of the shower and dried myself, I felt like my skin was deprived of moisture. To sum it up, you know the feeling on your hands after you use glycerin dish soap, that's exactly how I felt on my body. The sales associate told me these were back by popular demand (seriously, I would like to talk those people) but they won't be back on shelves after they are all sold out. If they were so popular, then the company would continue producing them right? It's funny how companies tell all sorts of crap just to get people to buy stuff.

Current Obsession: Bows

I don't know about you guys but right now, and I have been quite a while, I am absolutely obsessed with anything that has a bow on it! I know to many it may be a childish thing and I don't blame anyone who thinks that way, I remember the last time I was wearing bows, I was in first grade wearing piggy tails with bows on them, and that was 17 years ago! Can we say fashion repeats itself? Guess so! I just wanted to share with you guys some of my bow-y things that I am loving right now :) Everything except for the earrings (these are Betsey Johnson) are from Forever 21. I have yet to wear my recently bought blinged out ring (the one on the left) and the brown headband. These days I'm also really into leopard print, so I love working this leopard bow headband, ohhh yeah!

Here are the prices of the available items on Forever21.com, in case you are interested in purchasing, get them before they are gone! :)

Sateen Bow Headband in Brown (This comes in 5 colors!) : $3.80
Elegant Charm Necklace: $7.80
Bejeweled Bow Ring (which is the one with the tag) : $4.80

My Blog Is Born + Ulta haul

Hey everyone,

Welcome to my blog! This is my first post ever! I started this blog in the name of beauty and to share my passion for make-up and everything beauty related like most of us. On my blog, I'm planning to do everything from make-up to nails, product reviews and everything in between! Thanks for checking out my blog and I hope you enjoy your visit! :)

With that said, here goes my first little haul!
I've recently been to Ulta to check out what's new (Ok I'll be honest, I just received their mailer with a coupon) and of course I couldn't leave without picking up at least one thing, so...what did I get??

Baked Eyeshadow by Urban Decay

I must say...WOW! I've been llooking for this color forever! I'm so happy to finally have found it! It's a gorgeous and very rich bronze color. Quite pigmented! I recommend to this everything. It's $16 but I think it's totally worth it!

Show Pony Shadow Box by Urban Decay

Contains 6 beautiful shades, the famous 24/7 eyeliner in Zero and a trial of the best eye shadow primer out there ever: Urban Decay Primer Potion. All this for $30! As always, these UD eyeshadows are all very pigmented, go on super smooth and give off lots of sparkle and shimmer. Your eyes never had it better ladies!

MAC Coppering and Shadowy Lady

I'm always on the lookout for new colors when it comes to eyeshadows. I have recently discovered and purchased these two beautiful ones from MAC. They are; Coppering and Shadowy Lady. I think they got beautifully together and compliment each other both color and texture wise, as one Coppering is Veluxe Pearl and Shadowy Lady is Matte. They kind of remind me of Autumn and Thanksgiving though I think they could be used in any season  and with a bunch of other shades or even by themselves. I like to mix it up though, I just never seem to wear any color by itself.
