April Favorites

Hey girls!

It's that time of the month again, as in, the end of it! And it's time to do a favorites of course! Here is what I couldn't get enough of this month :)

1. Illamasqua Blusher in Lover - perfect apricot/peach blush with loads of pigmentation. Goes with many different looks, stays on forever, love love love ittt!!!

2. Revlon ColorStay Foundation - I thought I was in love with PhotoReady until I met ColorStay. This stuff is amazing, provides great coverage, feels really light on skin and lasts throughout the day. Love that it doesn't cake up.

3. Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude: Light peachy nude lipstick that doesn't look chalky, is quite moisturizing and doesn't flake on lips. Perfect by itself or as a base for a brighter lipstick.

4. China Glaze nail polish in Light As Air - Pastel, lilac color that goes great in spring. It's quite feminine!

5. YSL Rouge Volupte in Peach Passion - Peach. Passion. It's love! I love to wear this over Revlon's Soft Nude to get a more subtle color or by itself if I want a full strength vibrant peach.

6. NYX Lip Gloss in La La - After the above combination, I use La La to top my lips with some shine! La La is also perfect worn alone, looks great with a tan and darker eye make-up.

Of course I had to have some eye shadows thrown in here! I reached for these colors the most this month. They are all so lovely! Usually what I do for a quick fix is; apply Satin Taupe all over lid, use Quarry on my crease and dab a little Femme-Fi on inner corners and brow bone, and voila!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, be safe and have fun!!! <3

ILLAMASQUA Powder Blusher - Lover

...and here is part II of my little Sephora splurge!

I had been dying to try something from Illamasqua ever since I first heard about it on YT, I think it was Julieg713! I decided I will go with a blush because it would be a safe choice; you can always make a blush work. It was kind of difficult deciding on a color because there were 2 I was totally wanting, one was Lover and the other one was Tweak. I ended up going with Lover and am I glad I did! I think this is the best apricot/peach blush I own right now. Oh I have been looking for this exact same color for such a long time. I don't have anything that comes close to it. While I love my Peachykeen and Coralista, Lover is topping the charts right now! Let's do a quick run down of the specs...

Hello pigmentation!

Packaging: Could be better. It's a basic shiny black box with an open cut out window where the color peeks out. To me, it looks like an old box as if it's been forgotten in someone's medicine cabinet. I think that may have been the look they were going for. The blush container is plastic and a bit cheap looking for my taste. I am not too fond of opening the container with my finger nail either. Hopefully they will improve.

Color: Matte, intense peachy/apricot, with quite bit of pigmentation. Shows up beautifully over foundation and bronzer. Staying power is really good, stays put for hours and no need to touch up during the day. Sounds a lot like a NARS blush to me, I think it's just as good, if not better!

Misc.: Has an old/medicine-like smell to it, it's nothing unbearable but I'm just letting everyone know. I do have a pretty sensitive nose :)

Price: $23.00 at Sephora.

Here is a picture of Eva Mendes wearing an intense apricot/peach blush which I absolutely adore! I think Lover will be great for getting the color (or close to it) on Eva's cheeks...it's love! <3

Do you girls own any Illamasqua blushes? What do you think about them? Any color recommendations?

YSL ROUGE VOLUPTÉ 13 - PEACH PASSION

Hey girls!!!

Well, I really wasn't planning on getting anything using Sephora's15% off coupon but....sometimes things don't go according to the plan! I had been eying and having dreams about two products for quite some time now. I thought buying them with a discount will ease the pain so I went ahead and ordered from Sephora.com. I placed many orders from Sephora's website and never received my order in 2 days before, very impressive Sephora! I'm reviewing only one of the products today, I will be reviewing the other one later today or tomorrow if I get a chance :)

YSL ROUGE VOLUPTÉ 13 - PEACH PASSION

All I have to say about this is...WOW! I'm so sooo impressed with it. As you may have guessed this is my first YSL lipstick (or product for that matter) so probably that's why I'm overreacting. After all it's only a lipstick. I have been wanting Peach Passion for ages and finally I was able to get my hands on it!

What do I think about...

Packaging: It is absolutely to die for. It's really all about glamor. It's shiny, gold and so luxurious, as if it's not only a lipstick but an accessory. The color reveals itself with carved YSL logo across the center of the case in such an elegant way! I think that color comes pretty close to the actual color of the product. An added bonus; it has a cute little mirror right on cap!

Color: Vibrant pinky coral peach. It has quite the opacity!

Formula: Silky smooth and creamy. Highly pigmented. Stays on for a very long time, at least it does in my case. I did notice a bit of flaking but easily solved that problem by exfoliating lips and adding lip balm beforehand (which I do with almost all of my lipsticks anyway)

Scent: Sweet fruity scent which is okay. I prefer MAC lipsticks' subtle vanilla scent though.

Price: $34.00 at Sephora.

I really can't find anything not likable about this lipstick. If I absolutely had to change one thing about it...hmmm, I guess I would change the scent and leave everything else the same!

What do you guys think about YSL lipsticks?

Hope everyone is having a great Monday! <3

Essie Resort Collection 2010

Hey ladies!!!

I want to share with you all my latest obsession and it is nothing other than the new Resort Collection by Essie! I love O.P.I but I started my nail polish collection with Essie polishes so Essie has a special place in my heart. Therefore I frequently check their website to see new collections. Well last time I was on Essie's website, I saw that this resort collection will be in stores in May. It's not even May and the other day I bumped into these colors at my Ulta! Yeaaahhh! All the colors have exceeded my expectations, wow! They are all very beautiful and totally me!

LAPIS OF LUXURY

It's a true cornflower blue and it's just gorgeous! Here on my nails I have 3 coats, yep! It took me 3 coats to achieve this level of opacity. One coat is way too sheer, two coats were better compared to 1 but I could still see the white tips of my nails and I hate it when that happens. So I went with 3 coats, and I am pretty happy with the way it looks!

PLAYA DEL PLATINUM

I would call this color sandy grey/wet cement color, it's an unusual color so it definitely isn't one of those colors that will be loved by too many people. However, I've been looking for a color like this for a long time so when I heard about this I was super excited! I have 2 coats on in this picture. I could have easily done 3 but left it at 2 so it dries faster.

SPLASH OF GRENADINE

I love pink so I knew I'd definitely be getting this color. It's hard for me to describe this color because it's not exactly pink and it's not exactly purple. It's almost like a jelly lavender, reminds me a lot of English Accents lipglass and Bloomingly Lovely lipstick from MAC's Liberty of London collection in nail polish form. Since I've already proven myself that I can't pull off lavender lip products, I will be using it on my nails in stead because I really do love lavender color! I applied 2 coats of it and I think that was sufficient to coat my nails evenly.

TURQUOISE  & CAICOS

I was quite skeptical about this color because when I first saw it, the first thing that came to my mind was For Audrey by China Glaze which I have and love to wear. You can see my post about For Audrey here and compare the two. They are quite similar but I wouldn't say they are dupes of each other. In my opinion Turquoise & Caicos has more green whereas For Audrey has more blue. I personally think Turquoise and Caicos is more of a Tiffany blue (check out my little Tiffany box in the back he he). I used 3 coats here, 1 & 2 coats were a bit too sheer for my nails.

Over all, I think this is an awesome collection from Essie and I love all the colors! I don't normally buy the entire collection from any brand, in fact I think this is the first time I ever did this! But there was something about the colors in this collection so I had to get'em before they sell out. According to my observance at my local Ulta, most colors were close to being sold out, so if you're interested in any color get them before they are gone (even though there's always online shops). All of these colors also come in little sample size bottles for $17, I think. Individually they are $8.50.

Did you girls get any of these colors or any new colors from other brands? I am obsessed with nail polish so if you know of a color I must absolutely have let me know! :)

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick - Soft Nude

Hey girls!

Here is a lipstick I accidentally found and totally fell in love with and I wanted to share it with you all! I actually had no intentions of buying this lipstick until I stumbled upon an advertisement of it in one of my weekly gossip magazines, and there was a coupon for it too! I googled some swatches, and decided to give it a go. Like all of us, I have a good number of nude lipsticks already but honestly no other color in the Revlon Colorburst collection really attracted me and the coupon was just too good to not use! That's why I picked up Soft Nude and I'm so happy with it!

I think the packaging is so sleek and feminine! Definitely nothing like that of Revlon Matte lipsticks, like Nude Attitude, which I thought was so boring. I absolutely love the quilted design, reminds me of a Chanel purse!

I busted out some of my nude lippies, that I know many people have, to compare them to Soft Nude...I don't have any dupes for this color, yay!

I also really love the formula. It's very creamy and doesn't dry lips at all. In other words the Soft Nude's formula is nothing like Myth or Nude Attitude's.What I don't really like about this lipstick is the smell, it smells like a crayon to me, seriously. However I think I can get over it because I really love this color and I will repurchase it for sure!

Revlon Colorburst lipsticks retail for $7.99 at CVS, but I got mine for $4.99 with a coupon he he

NOTD: O.P.I Lucky Lucky Lavender

Hey girls!

Here are my nails today! Yes, I do change my nail polish every other day I love nail polishes that much! :) I have been loving shades of purple on my nails these days. I love purple in general, it's such an attractive and beautiful color and I think it's a color most people can pull off. I bought Lucky Lucky Lavender after seeing it on Lorraine's nails, the moment I saw it I knew I had to have it! I love lavender, at least on my nails. I definitely cannot pull it off in lipsticks, I regret buying Blooming Lovely from MAC's Liberty of London collection, even though it's so pretty!

Lucky Lucky Lavender is from O.P.I's Hong Kong Collection (Spring/Summer 2010). Honestly when I first saw the colors from this collection, getting this particular color didn't cross my mind, at all. Application like all O.P.I nail polishes was a bliss. As usual, no streaking, even coating, you know typical characteristics of O.P.I polishes. I think this color would be great on toes as well and with a tan, it would look so amazing. Can't wait to be tanned!!! One thing that caught my attention during application was that, the formula of this color seems to be more runny than other ones, it was kind of bizarre. Here I have a base coat, two coats of Lucky Lucky Lavender and a top coat. I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Yes to Cucumbers Natural Glow Facial Towelettes

Hola chicas!!

If you checked out my most recent haul post then you know these Yes to Cucumber Face Wipes (or Facial Towelettes like they call them, fancy!) were part of my haul. I have used these for a few days now and wanted to share with you girls my experience with them. I have to admit, I was sold on these because of the packaging, it's bright green and looks cute! The package states that the wipes are "blended with organic cucumber, aloe vera and dead sea minerals" which definitely grabs attention. Previously I used the Neutrogena ones (really the only brand of face wipes I used ever until these). One thing I really like about the cucumber ones is that well they smell like cucumbers and it's super refreshing. So I thought it would feel good on my skin and it does! I like the fact that these are 98.7% natural, oil free, alcohol free, biodegradable but I don't really think they are that effective taking make-up off.

Taking off foundation and powder wasn't that difficult with these wipes though with Neutrogena ones I find it to be much more easier and gentler. When it comes to mascara and eyeliner, they are just impossible. I am a girl that loves her eye make-up and I wear eye make-up daily, for that reason I need something that takes off my eye make-up and something that doesn't require too much energy to do so. These wipes just don't do a good job taking it off, I had to actually rub my eyes to see if that helps and I'm sorry to say it didn't. I had to continue with my eye make-up remover. I think the cloth could be a bit softer also. After all these wipes are meant to be used on faces which is a sensitive body part. I also feel that they are a bit drying on my skin. I feel like immediately following with my moisturizer right after using them which isn't the case with Neutrogena ones at all. In fact with Neutorgena wipes, I just wipe and go. I am not sure if I'd repurchase these. I think they may be more helpful for someone who doesn't wear as much make-up and especially mascara and eyeliner daily and who just needs to freshen up during or at the end of their day. I need something more heavy-duty so next I'm planning to try the MAC ones. I believe these wipes are around $5 for a package of 30.

In summary;
Likes: Packaging, scent, natural, refreshing

Dislikes: Not effective for mascara/ eyeliner, drying, stickiness

NOTD: China Glaze FLY

Hello lovies!

Well, after obsessing over China Glaze Peachy Keen for almost a week, I decided it was time for a change. Nail polish change that is! I was going through my collection of nail polishes and came across this color that I honestly don't remember ever using before. I know, it IS crazy to buy nail polish and never use it as most nail polishes don't have long shelf life. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm happy I got "reconnected" with this gorgeous color.

Fly was part of a China Glaze collection called Kicks which came out in 2009. I would call this color a cross between raspberry and purple, raspberry-ish purple or purplish raspberry, something like that! It has pink flecks with micro shimmer. I totally forgot to take pictures of how nails look with one coat, but anyway it's nearly impossible to wear any nail polish with only one coat. As with most China Glaze nail polishes, application is a bliss. Formula has great consistency, applies evenly and smoothly. No streaking at all! I also love the staying power, I've been wearing this color for two days now and no chipping yay! I do apply a top coat every other day just to keep the shine though. On my nails I have a base coat, two coats of FLY and top coat. Voila!

St. Ives Naturally Clean Green Tea Scrub

Hey girls!!!

Okay so I just ran out of my Burt's Bees Peach and Willowbark scrub which I love dearly! Now it was time to get a new one BUT as I was wandering through the aisles of my local CVS looking for something else, this St. Ives scrub caught my eye and I picked it up and "studied" the back side of it. I was very surprised to find out that it's formulated without parabens and phthalates! I'm seriously very happy to see more drugstore brands making products without these.

My first impression of the scent was, "wow smells just like DKNY Be Delicious, yummyyy" and I still think it smells something like it, obviously a more toned-down version of it. Another thing that caught my attention was that on it besides that it has green tea (loves it!)  it says "clears breakouts & reduces redness". Well this kind of ties into the reason why I didn't have any FOTDs lately because I actually used another face scrub (read my 'negative' review on it here) which totally made me breakout, me no likey! I've been using this scrub for several days now and I just love it. I love the texture of it, it has these micro beads that are so gentle on skin. As you work this scrub on your face, it sort of lathers up, nothing too foamy though. After rinsing, my face felt kind of cool, I'm sure it was because it opened my pores and my skin was able to breathe again. But the best feeling of all was post-drying, it makes your skin incredibly soft!! I have normal combination skin and have not experienced any dryness using this scrub however I feel like if you have dry skin this may not be suitable for you because it doesn't have that moisturizing element in it like my Burt's Bees Peach scrub does. So far I'm very happy with this scrub, it really exceeded my expectations. I can see some reduction of the breakout already! I purchased this for about $6, it comes in a 4.5oz container. There are also Green Tea and Olive cleansers in this collection if you're interested.

Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Scrub

Hey girlss!!!

How is everyone? I am...trying to be good. :)

I was recently going through my stash of cosmetics, skin care products and I came across this scrub which I bought a while ago and didn't use much as far as I could tell from what's left in the container. So I thought I'd use it...Well, I wish I never did! It totally made me break out, big time! I think the last time I had a breakout was in my last semester of college and that was, needless to say, due to stress! I don't know what's in this product that my skin didn't approve of.

This scrub claims that we will see fewer blackheads in just 2 days! Yeah right. That definitely did not happen. Not only did that not happen but in stead I got zits all over my cheek, not pretty at all. I can't say that I'm a big fan of creamy scrubs with beads in them. I don't really like lotion-like scrubs, eye make-up removers etc on my face besides my moisturizer. Well this scrub is super creamy, so that was a big thumbs down from me. Another thing that I hate about it is the smell, what is in it seriously?? I think it may be the aloe vera or jojoba I have no clue, but to me it smells horrible. Over all I think this scrub needs quite a bit of reformulating, at least for me it does. I am sure there are some people who absolutely love it, but not me. I will not repurchase this scrub again, do I even need to say it...in fact I'll just go and toss it. Right now. There is my two cents. Bad scrub = Unhappy consumer.

Haul Time: MAC, Ulta,Target

Hey girlies!!!

Supposedly I was going to resist and not buy anything from MAC until Back to Beach collection which will be in stores in May but it just didn't happen. I had 6 empty containers for Back to MAC so in return of that I got the Shy Girl lipstick which I love! In addition, I got three eye-shadows, which I totally didn't need but wanted for the longest time. I didn't just get some crazy colors (though tempted) these are very versatile and everyday colors which I know I'll be using often and they are....

Satin Taupe (Frost) - Taupe with silver shimmer
Sable (Velvet) - Gold plum with bronze pearl
Woodwinked (Veluxe Pearl) Warm antique gold

Shy Girl ( Creemsheen) - Creamy neutral coral beige
(Descriptions taken from maccosmetics.com)

Off to Ulta...I got two nail polishes, Peachy Keen by China Glaze and Lucky Lucky Lavender by O.P.I. I also purchased The Amazing Concealer by Amazing Cosmetics, which I will actually return :/ See my review on it here.

I went to Target for some house needs then I remembered I need to buy some of those facial make-up remover wipes and decided to try out a new brand. I initially thought of buying the Boots Botanics ones but I then remembered I am in the same aisle as Burt's Bees products and even though I knew they didn't have these wipe things, I still looked to see thinking maybe they came out with them in the mean time or something? But nope, still no face wipes from Burt's Bees. Then I look right next to Burt's Bees stuff and see Yes To Cucumbers Facial Towelettes and that's what I ended up getting. It smells just like cucumbers when you open the flap, yummm! I also purchased Revlon ColorStay foundation to see if it lives up to all the hype. While I was there, I thought I'd also get an eyeliner brush from Sonia Kashuk and that was it from Target. Actually then from the pets aisle, I got a t-shirt for Muffin since he grew out of pretty much everything we bought for him when we first got him :)

 It says "Got Biscuits?" :)

Amazing Cosmetics - Amazing Concealer

Hey girls!

I've been using Amazing Concealer for a while now. I bought it because I heard very good things and read good reviews about it.I know many people that use it and swear by it. But does it really live up to all the hype? I have normal combination skin, bit oilier on my T-zone. I'd say I get some oiliness under my eyes throughout the day, which is where I use concealers the most.

This is all I need for one eye...

What I did was basically apply it all over my under eye area/inner corner/towards the eyebrow/brow bone to cover up discoloration there as well as down the sides of my nose using the Amazing Cosmetics concealer brush (this was actually a free gift that came with the purchase of the concealer) I also went over the irritation on the outer corner of my eye, I don't know if you can see it.

Okay so it conceals. Then again, so does my Benefit Erase Paste which I'm actually happy with. The one thing that I am not crazy about is that because of it's thicker consistency it takes quite bit of a blending to achieve the desired coverage. I worked on it for a good several minutes to get the result I want. Another thing that I don't like is the fact that it DOES crease, at least it does in my case even after I set it with powder. Price may also be a concern for some, it is $28 for the small tube, but it also really seems like it will last forever because you need such a small amount. As a result I have mixed feelings about this product. I know many people rave about it and can't live without it but I just don't think it's anything special. At this point, I will stick with my Erase Paste to conceal my imperfections. I think Bare Minerals multi-tasking concealer is just as good, I also use that under my eyes, it totally brightens up tired eyes!

March Favorites

Hey chicas!

I can't believe that I totally forgot to post my March favorites! I prepared it almost a week ago and for some reason forgot about it, must have been the beautiful weather! So here is what I've been lovin' in the month of March! (Yes I do have a few non-make-up items to jazz it up a little)

FYI: These aren't necessarily recently purchased products.

1) Lucky Lucky Lavender by OPI - I am in love with this color, it's a pastel lavender and is absolutely girly and beautiful! So spring ;) When I first saw the Hong Kong Collection, getting this color didn't really cross my mind at all, I surprise myself sometimes!

2) L'oreal Voluminous Mascara - I think I am over CG Lashblast because Voluminous really takes my lashes to the extreme, no need for falsies!

3) MAC Fix + - Has been my best friend all through March. I don't only use it to set my make-up but to freshen up also. You know, a spritz here and there. The scent is just ah-mazing, wish it stuck around more!!!

4) MAC Peachstock Lipstick - Well you saw that coming! I know you guys are sick of hearing about it, probably. I promise I won't talk about it anymore :) But, it has been my favorite lipstick in March and the same thing applies to at least the first week of April, so most likely you will see/hear about it in my April favorites too. Perfect nude peach!

5) MAC Underage Lipglass - Stunning when paired with Peachstock as well as alone. Reached for this the most in terms of lipglosses. So versatile, can be paired with many different colored lipsticks!

6) Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado - Just feels damn good on my skin, that's it!

7) Yellow Iphone case from a random eBayer - I think I'm getting over pink, I mean I still love it but I think it's time for me to branch out and show some love to other colors in the spectrum! I've been loving my yellow case and I think it looks great with the black Iphone yeahhh!

8) Rose gold initial bracelet - I wore this every single day in March and still am, just took it off to include it in the picture. It was part of my graduation gifts from my dad. I love the rose/pink gold, and the cursive E with all the bling on it, and the little evil-eye charm thing is just too cute!

9) Givenchy Ange ou Démon Le Secret - I am obsessed with this perfume, seriously! It smells out of this world good! This is just a sample but as soon as I finish up one of my other perfumes, I am getting my hands on this baby for sure! Notes: Green tea, citrus, cranberry, white musk, white peony...well you get the picture! Give it a whiff if you see it at the stores.

What did you girls love in March??

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

Hi ladies!!

Today's post is about my new eye-cream. I personally have never used an eye cream before because honestly I just didn't think anything of them. I always thought; I use a moisturizer twice a day so why would I need an eye cream? However, recently when I am taking off my eye make-up (using a Target brand eye make-up remover, which I had to buy because they were out of the Neutrogena ones) I'm experiencing a bit of irritation/stinging around my eyes. The skin there feels sort of thin when touched. So this led me to thinking that maybe it is time that I start using an eye cream. I just couldn't figure out whether it was due to using this eye make-up remover or that skin surrounding my eye just needs special attention. I have been using this eye make-up remover for about a month now, and I'd say the irritation/burning started about couple of weeks ago. So I ended up getting this Avocado eye cream from Kiehl's. I have tested it in store and was sold within a few seconds. This cream is just amazing!!! Don't let it's tiny size fool you, it's packed with so much goodness.

Yes, I tried to capture moisture in the second square! :) I tried a bit on my hand, because really that's all you need, and it goes from this cream state to pure moisture in matter of seconds. When you pick it up, it feels and it is quite thick in consistency but on contact, it will get super light and moist. Two other things that I love about this eye cream are that it isn't stick at all and it doesn't get in your eyes. My skin feels so hydrated and soft after using this for hours. Since I started using this my eye area isn't getting irritated anymore while I am taking off my eye make-up, hopefully this cream has a contribution to my problem so at least I know the cure for it! Right now, I am using this twice a day, well more like once a day and once a night :) I think it really locks in moisture and still works after it's absorbed in your skin. I just love it!! If I had to pick something negative about it, it would probably be the packaging. Then again it may be just me since I am not really fond of this type of container because I have to dip my fingers in them, not cool or sanitary for that matter! Hopefully one day it will come in a bottle form with a pump! If you are searching for an eye-cream, you may want to check this out! It retails for $25.50 for 0.5 oz container. I think it will last me about 4-5 months or maybe more because I use a very small amount.

FOTD: Orangesicle Eyes

Hola chicas!

I've been loving shades of orange lately , not only in make-up but other other things too!
